Town Designates Easy Parking Spots for Women: Is It Sexist or Sweet?

The German town of Triberg is now designating parking spots for men and women. The parking spots assigned to women are much easier to maneuver compared to the men's, less convenient designated spots. The mayor of Triberg went on to state, "As a rule, men are a little better at such challenges.”

Nonetheless, several studies find that women are indeed better parkers than men. For a British study that came out this year, researchers monitored 2,500 drivers in 700 parking lots in Britain for one month. While women took longer to park, they were more likely to leave their cars in the middle of the spot. Women proved to be better at finding places and more accurate in lining up the car before backing in. Also, they were more likely to use parking strategies recommended by driving instructors.

Evidence shows that apperently, the rational choice would be to give men the easier parking spaces. Doing so might be fruitless but at least it wouldn't be sexist. But giving women easier spaces when they are less likely to botch a parking job? That's sexist.

How is it treating me as an idiot to give me better parking? There is a difference between preferential and rude treatment. I would suggest you learn the difference. or do you have no grace at all.

You missed my point. You said that you appreciated being treated as stupid due to being a woman.
Is it really rude to make fun of someone who feels that way? Possibly, but are you asking for it? Certainly.

    Just as I figured. Clueless.

Where in the question did it say "Do you enjoy being treated as stupid because you are a woman?" It didn't. you think every accommodation given to women is somehow a threat. Shall we make them do away with private stalls in bathroom in favor of a squatting urinal as well?

Get over it. I like easy parking spaces. I have a stroller and kids to get out. Who cares? If you don't like the spot you don't have to park in it. Its like the courtesy spaces for pregnant women. You don't HAVE to park there. Its just something that is accommodating.

Yes. Sexist, meaning it is different or preferential treatment for me because of my gender. I am not a man, nor do I wish to be treated like a man. I don't want to carry heavy crap, I don't want to chop wood, I don't want to kill for my food, I don't want to squeeze my vehicle into tiny parking spaces, I don't want to be drafted for the military. I have unique talents and skills that women are better at, men have talents they are better at. I am not a man.

The parking spots are designed for women, based on the belief women are bad at parking. The spaces are not to celebrate the differences in the genders.

Parking spots aimed at bad parkers (somehow), would be one thing, but specifically for women, is sexist and stupid.

Like I said a while back, what if this was aimed at asian drivers? Now, would that be celebrating a difference in cultures?
I am guessing you are pretty young. Sexism in not something to appreciate. Defending it makes you sound silly.

I really want to say "yes, this is sexist" and sound like a modern 21st century man, but the problem is, I see a lot of women have great difficulty with parking. Those that do literally get stressed out to the point of tears. I wish I was joking, but I'm not. Then again, take what I say with a grain of salt, because my parking skills are probably in the top 5% from practice. I spent 7 years delivering pizza, 2 years driving delivery trucks/courier vans, and have driven large box trucks and flatbeds of varying sizes. I made my living parking those things in impossible spaces. Most people don't get that kind of practice.

I totally agree with you and it's sad. I love being a woman, I'm proud to be a woman. These days they don't celebrate that difference much, many people are wanting everyone to be adrogenous. (sp?)
