As far as I know, these were accidents. It doesn't really fall under the heading of "gun violence". Accidents happen. That doesn't mean we should repeal our Constitutional rights because a few people had an accident. Your logic is twisted.

'Bad timing'? .....People do crazy things to others in all manner of objects: Drunk drivers in vehicles, lunatics stab and kill people, some make home made bombs. Even some self destruct via fast food garbage...So should National 'Fork' Day or National 'Car' Day be considered 'bad timing'?
Sure, I like guns for sport, self defense, and my Right to have 'em. But do I think we really need a 'Gun Appreciation Day'? ..Not really. I can do without it and many other '___ Appreciation Days'. ....won't affect my world, one way or another.
Just don't make me out to be 'the bad guy', because there happens to be such a 'day' to celebrate guns.

I heard some lady on TV last night saying how horrible it was to pick this weekend to honor guns when MLK was killed with one. She said they should have picked another weekend besides MLK weekend.
When did we make this a weekend instead of a day?????

Good way to phrase the question. The answer could be "both"... I'm waiting for "Gun Education Appreciation Day". I read about someone in Medina, Ohio this weekend who had a semi-auto handgun, pulled out the magazine, assumed it was therefore unloaded, and then injured (luckily only...) someone nearby when he discharged the round secretly hiding in the receiver!!! I dunno, folks. A little foolishness all around on that one.
Maybe there should be something said about keeping guns out of the hands of the clueless.

The Drama Queens and The Woulda Coulda and Shoulda people can take a vacation from their bitching. It's something that is part of American Heritage. With our guns America would not be. So give credit where credit is due. Like it or not your safe because of a gun and not speaking something other than English.

I think its bad timing. There are parents grieving in Conn. over the loss of their babies and they will never get over that. So I think appreciation for guns is extreme. Have a gun or don't have a gun ..Why appreciate a gun on a special day?

Where are the reports on grieving parents of children gunned down practically every day by drug gang violence in South Chicago? Last year there were more murders in my old home town than there are days of the year.

I was there at the Utah State Capital Salt Lake City Utah hundreds of people showed up to support State legislation in passing a bill that would prosecute any federal officer with a felony for tying to infringe on the people of Utah rights to keep and bear arms, it was only 3 degrees today and there was still a great turn out Thank Patriots for showing up at your state capitals.
