To Shave or Not to Shave: Should Women Keep Armpits Hair-Free?

Not feminine just by today's asthetic standards, but femininity is much more.

I have noticed that PEOPLE tweak their hygiene in direct coorelation to whether they are with someone or not,.. and what that persons likes and dislikes are.

Saying that to say that I'm not going to run screaming from a woman with hair - After all it wasn't like she chose where hair will grow.

I just require her to be clean.

Women should be modest and keep their arms covered when in public. They should shave under their arms if it pleases their husband.

yea it looks gross but who's to say its not comfortable 4 some women not to shave.....everyone thinks, feels and act different its a lifestyle n hygiene choice n we as society think we need to have an opinion n judge one another

That is the way it was in Europe and I was never dissuaded by hairy pits or legs on the women. In fact if they shaved they were doing it to please Americans so that was a good reason to stay away.

There are numerous things that I find a bit gross about the human body, male and female. But in reality is it really gross, no its just my perception and personal opinion. To someone else its not a big deal, or it may be attractive. Either way its the natural human body and its a person's choice to do what they want.

Well... I probably sound like a total hypocrite here, but I DO shave my armpits. Not because society dictates that I should, but because armpit hair is itchy and unhealthy (it creates rashes and make people sweat more.) On the other hand, leg hair is perfectly healthy and so is hair everywhere else on your body (not going into details.) I think it's sad that so many women shave their legs just because they want to look hot. Is that your goal in life? Wow, I really respect you. And no one except your doctor (who you shouldn't care what their opinion of your looks) and someone you sleep with (who you should trust enough and who should care about the real you) will see pubic hair. Shaving eyebrows and arms? Just plain unnecessary (and weird). Shaving anything that isn't necessary to shave for your health or beginning to resemble fur, is giving in to society's demands.

And for those of you who say I'm just acting like I don't care how I look and that I'm the worst of them all because I'm faking who I really am to look like some kind of caring-about-real-stuff rebel? Good for you. Actually, I really DON'T care what you think.

It's definitely more socially acceptable for women to shave their armpits, and I think it's rare for them not to (at least where I live). But, if a woman doesn't want to, then by no means should she have to. It's her body, she can do whatever the hell she wants with it, and people should respect that (:

Lol my friend Bon is super hairy (I call him chewbacca legs lol) and I bug him and tell him to shave :P

i personally think us woman should shave. i dont shave when i dont have school. but its disturbing seeing girls in p.e with hairy legs. but then again if guys dont have to then why must we? still its up to that person if they should or shouldnt.

Women should do whatever they want, when it comes to shaving. HOWEVER, those who choose NOT to shave their under-arms, need to realize that to many of us it is gross to look at. --As a result, we are going to look and giggle and say "ewww!"

Majority of women in the world don't shave their armpits. Western people, specially Hollywood and Americans have created wrong notions about hairy armpits. Just one or two centuries ago no woman used to shave armpits and it didn't raise any eyes. If every women stop shaving, it will become a natural sight after a decade or two and no one will bother then.
