Tip 86: Get Ultimate Virus Protection for Your PC
Tip #86: Get Ultimate Virus Protection for Your PC
(Works with all Windows versions)
Computer viruses can carry out such malicious damage as erasing your files and have the ability to spread to your network and contact list. Viruses can allow hackers to steal your personal info and wreck your computer.
I don't care who you are or what you do. If your computer accesses the Internet, you MUST have some sort of anti-virus software running on your computer. There's lots to choose from, but keep this in mind:
You want your anti-virus program to be updated regularly with the newest virus definitions, otherwise it won't be effective with new viruses.
You don't want it to hog up your system resources, otherwise you'll be sacrificing computer usability for safety.
Many virus programs also protect from spyware, adware, trojans, worms, and intrusion attempts on your computer.
I wouldn't suggest getting a free anti-virus program because many aren't often kept up to date or lack important features (you get what you pay for). But I do have a program in mind you might want to look into. You've probably even heard of it since it's one of the most highly regarded antivirus programs available. It's called Norton AntiVirus. Here are some of it's features:
Blocks viruses, spyware, Trojan horses, worms, bots, and rootkits
Defends against hackers with a quiet two-way firewall
Pulse updates every 5-15 minutes for up-to-the minute protection
Intelligence-driven technology for faster, fewer, shorter scans
Download Insight proactively warns of potential dangers in newly downloaded files and applications before you install or run them
Stops threats unrecognized by traditional antivirus techniques
Guards against Web attacks that exploit software vulnerabilities
Nice, huh? If you want the latest and greatest virus protection, buy a AntiVirus program.
