Breast feeding a 4 year old? If your kid is big enough to stand and ask you for food, he's big enough to use a fork.
Also, where are the fathers in all of this? I can't imagine there are very many men on board with this, and if they are, they're lying.

If you're interested in these sorts of things, you've probably heard of "attachment parenting," in which mothers breastfeed for longer than the recommended six months to one year, partake in "co-sleeping" with their children and wear the kids in BabyBjorns. Well, Time magazine chose to take a look at the philosophy for their May 21 cover story, which they illustrate by featuring a mother breastfeeding her nearly 4-year-old son on the cover.

While some are calling the image overly sensational, it does illustrate the parenting method espoused by Dr. Bill Sears. Time takes a look at how Sears came to his philosophy, and interviews moms who believe in his theories, like "cover mom" Jamie Lynne Grumet. Of course, the mom they chose for the cover is 26, blonde, slim and attractive (we're just sayin'...). Do you think the cover goes too far?

Yes

I wonder what goes through the mind of those who produce such articles for their magazines. Sigh, will this species ever grow up? Or will they continue to 'breast feed" a population that thrives on extremism or sensationalism?
Which one is more Obscene?
I'm just going to say neither is obscene, but the Sports Illustrated is closer. ONLY the sports illustrated cover is openly selling sex. If you are shocked by the Times cover, that's fine. Because the idea being explored is ALSO shocking. Whether you are for or against attachment parenting, this cover inspires precisely the response it is supposed to. Does this push the bounds of appropriateness, dealing with issues that times shouldn't be exploring on its cover because it is too upsetting?
So much for that theory.
That kid has not missed any meals. He eats and drinks normally like the majority of kids.
If you can look at that picture and call it normal you are a freak!
Be gone Twit!
"It isn't any of my damn business or anyone else's."
Love your children, touch your children yes, without question....fulfill their every desire, and allow them to breastfeed until they are "ready" to stop....HELL NO!
Oh, okay. It can lead to problems in a few of the aforementioned categories when other people don't mind their own f**king business and intrude on the families private affairs and practices.
Billions of children are not breast fed, and they are perfectly normal.
YES IMO it's child abuse, there is NO reason to breastfeed a child this long.
This is AMERICA, not a third world country.
YOU could take your own advice....mind your own fk'n business.
