Those taught by nuns in Catholic elementary and high schools. Do you like nuns.? How did nuns treat you in school.? Do you feel some nuns joined convents because they were lesbians, hiding fact from families and society.? All welcome.

Remembering nuns, especially in those years when they wore long habits, covered farheads, long heavy rosary beads, rarely smiled, wasted no time humilating students, or hitting you with rulers makes me really dislike them. Many women in the 1940's and 1950's either got married or became nuns. This was also true in much of the 1960's. We must give them credit for keeping order in classrooms with over 50 students. Nuns also made sure sudents learned reading, writing, and arithmetic. If they were so happy to become nuns, so devoted to God, why were they so miserable most of the time.? Many were deliberately hateful, loving to pick on students. As years went by less and less women became nuns, an interesting thought. Just as homosexual priests have been hiding in Catholic churches, was it also possible lesbian women hid behind nun's robes in convents.? Nuns always segregated boys from girls even in elementary schools. I saw nuns publicly humiliate an eight grade boy and girl just for kissing. Anything about natural sex was disgusting and taboo to many nuns.

I was taught by nun's from 1969 through 1976. Sister Eleanor Marie, Sister Cornelia, Sister Michael Vincent, Sister Marion, Sister Michael...they were all good teachers and great people. I don't know or suspect anything more about their lives. They were strict, but fair. I am thankful that I had the experience to know them and learn from them.

Yeah it did him more good than me. He and David Beckham the LA Galaxy star footballer have got one thing in common (the only thing), they both come from the unprepossessing London suburb of Leytonstone.

What is Leytonstone like.? I had been in Windsor, London, also Hampton Courts. It was erie being in the tower Henry VIII kept his wives before having their heads axed off. I remember climbing narrow winding cement steps to this small room with a small window.

Leytonstone is a rather dull Victorian suburb with rows of terrace houses but I imagine it's gone up market now. It's near the olympic stadium and village so there would have been extensive rebuilding.

I never remembered one friendly nun. Nuns I had from Kindergarten through 4th grade were very mean to young children. They rarely smiled, always seemed annoyed, boys had to sit on one side of the class, girls on the other. I did have a habit of teasing a few nuns once in awhile. Nuns loved to humiliate which I believe is harmful, especially to young children. Sex was taboo, even innocent sex. We were watching a very funny Laurel and Hardy movie in the auditorium. When some Hawaiian Hula dancers came on the screen, most nuns went into a panic, shutting off the film. Nuns did control very large classes. We had to learn script in 4th grade using fountain pens. Pencils only allowed for math. Neat papers were a must, with proper headings and spelling. Sadly young children in my classes died. I was exposed to death from age 6; we as a class had to view the body. I found nuns to be very sarcastic. A couple nuns always stuck together like glue. Nuns seemed to be very hateful, too narrow minded also. Many never acted happy in their role, or showed warmness or goodness of soul. We did learn history, but science was limited. Not only Catholic Churches but many Christian religions avoid science. I later went to public schools. There are a few public school teachers that should not be teaching, and they get paid.

Sister Connie. She still works at my school. She taught me in 1st grade, obviously NOT in the '50/'60's, and also every one of my sisters. She's flippin' awesome.

I went to Catholic elementary school in the 1950's. Nuns in those days gave me nightmares. I remember in third grade this old nun would walk down the isle checking inside each desk for neatness. Sometimes I kept my desk stuffed with junk. The nun became hysterical, screaming, shaking me, yellling you leave junk in your desk, over and over. I had a friend when looking at each other would burst out laughing. My friend started laughing, I started laughing and the nun was having a fit. Yes we did learn to read, write, and spell correctly with over 50 students in a classroom. We also learned discipline and more respect.

Those nuns were scary. In 4th grade the nun would walk by each desk with a ruler, making sure students were writing their letters properly.

I don't remember those nuns ever smiling. Discipline is one thing, but they were way too strict. They took us into the auditorium to watch a funny Laurel and Hardy movie. Hawaiian Hula dancers started dancing. Those nuns became hysterical, quickly shutting off the movie. It was hilarious and idiotic to me watching those nuns panic, and I was only in 3rd or 4th grade at the time.

You have to remember in the 1940's, 1950's lesbian women had to hide this. Their families would have banned them for good. Society was far from ready to accept this also. I do believe many joined the convent.

No not anymore. I do have very strong ESP. Since a young girl I would have certain very detailed dreams that would come true even years later. These are dreams different from regular dreaming. I could remember every detail, speaking with people, seeing details in color, especially dreams of a death or cemeteries. Some dreams would be so emotional I would wake up crying or depressed the whole day. I had a very close friend from high school. We dated on and off even after high school. I had not seen him for a few years but had a dream of him dying in a car crash. I had never been to a military cemetary. In that dream I was walking among tomb stones all the same size, rows and rows. I finally came to a spot that only had a strange sign as a marking. I was living in MD at the time. A year later I moved back to NY. My girlfriend called me on the phone, I already had a feeling what she would tell me. My boyfriend from high school was killed in a car accident at 27 years old. He was in the Navy, I went to his wake, spoke with his mother. He was buried at a Long Island, N.Y. military cemetary. I had never been there. I went into the office getting information to find his grave. He was killed November 1974. I went to the cemetery December of 1974. When I found the spot h...

When I found the spot he was buried they had not put a tomb stone there yet, just a brass looking small sign as a marker. This brought that dream back to me. It was not even until years later that I went to Arlington National Cemetery. I am not an actual fortune teller using cards or crystal ball.

Wow that's pretty amazing. I have had the occasional dream like that but never with great clarity, more like just impressions, snippets which I later understood as being prophetic. Have you had any prophetic dreams or revelations relating to future world events, say 2012?

I had a dream when in my teenage years about the Catholic Church. At that time the church was only in Latin. I dreamt I was inside my Catholic Church watching young priests playing guitars on the altar. This was not done at that time. When I awoke my thoughts were that this was vulgar. Instead of that old Latin chanting, it was like watching rock stars on the altar. So many years later the church changed to Folk masses with playing guitars on church altars.
One inner feeling I have about 2012 is not the destruction of the Earth itself but the start of a new era, as when pre-historic man disappeared, more intelligent beings evolving. My fear is the human race will vanish replaced by a more advanced race of beings. This is just my feelings. I also sense total Continents sinking.
