-----disagree. The option should be the parent's. When tanning becomes abusive - really harmful, to the child, then it becomes a matter of child abuse.
I always let my daughter tan a couple of times before her proms. That was it. Any other "tan" she got, she got naturally,

Disagree. I know that leatherface lady made the news with her kid. Maybe under 13 they should do some restrictions. I'm 14 and educated enough to know when enough is enough. Past 13 you should have a little bit of knowledge about the sun and skin cancer, I learned about that when I was 12 in science.

When When When is the damn government going to stay out of our personal lives? I am literally sick, tired and disgusted that government just has this need to tell me and my family what I can and cannot do. The government has no business telling me what I can or drink or smoke if a damn well please. Ever since Billary came up with that kumbiya it takes a village crap, we have sunken into some type of compliance zombie. I want the F**k out of this liberal intrusion. I swear libs have some type of brain damage where they think government is the answer and they are the know all and be all of what is best for citizens of a free country...Obummer you got that??? Free to make the decsions for myself and my children?? I mean it pisses me off so much I want to got to NYC, to the mayors office and bring a sixer of 32 oz Mountain Dew and a carton of Camel non-filters and explain to Blowberg that I am free to do what I want to my body without Blowberg and his cronies to slap me on the hand and say stop that young man. Gimmie a freakin break. C'mon people lets take our country back and get some politicians whose ideology and understands the phrase For the People by the People. If they cannot understand that simple concept then get them the F outta there.

What doctor will give you a note to go tanning.. It's a choice that people have a right to decide for themself and if that idea becomes reality there are other ways to tan so this idea won't really work out well in the end.

I don't see why if it is so harmful except maybe to get some vitamin d. You can get vitamin d from tanning beds but im sure doctors would prefer people to get it from the sun itself scince the rays arn't as direct so won't be as harmful.

There are many benefits to small amounts of tanning. It may help with D deficiency for people who can not or will not take the pills, or those who can not spend much time in the sun. Tanning can be very beneficial to people with psoriasis. Seasonal Affective Disorder symptoms can also be reduced with tanning as well as severe acne.
  • LunarRain Vitalani 2012/06/26 20:02:22
    LunarRain
Ya but it sounds like all those can be done in the reall sun which is less harmful but will help with all of those things. Also if you can't spend much time in the sun why do you have time to lay in a tanning bed?
  • Vitalani LunarRain 2012/06/26 20:07:24
    Vitalani
It is often a last resort. Not everyone can go in the sun, not everyone can take pills, and not everyone has the time.
  • LunarRain Vitalani 2012/06/26 20:12:44
    LunarRain
But if people can't go in the sun for allergies or somthing woldn't they also be allergic to the tanning bed rays. Scince the tanning bed rays are more harmfull than sun rays wouldn't that be worse for them. If they don't have the time then they are not in a tanning bed so thats not a problem and wouldn't need a note. There are also other ways than pills like dairy products to get vitamin d so that also isnt a problem.

My point was doctors will prescribe this. Like I said, it is sometimes a last resort. Not all people can take pills, or drink milk.

". If they don't have the time then they are not in a tanning bed so thats not a problem and wouldn't need a note. " That sentence did even make sense.

You seem like your trying to deny deny deny and argue. The fact of the matter is doctors will prescribe it. You seem to have all these answers but you are not a medical professional.
  • LunarRain Vitalani 2012/06/26 20:22:22
    LunarRain
that sentence was replying to your not everyone has time. I was saying if they don't have the time to lay around in a tanning bed they won't need a doctors note to use one. So it really isn't a problem or concern to those people. I still think a doctor would just tell you to go and spend time in the sun more often and to eat more calcium.

A doctors not and a prescription are different...A prescription can mean insurance pays. But as I have said, this is a last resort and yes doctors do prescribe it. Thats just how it is.

    This is my thoughts ..

    FOLKS ..
these Tanning booths .. have some known affects on the human body ..
and sunburn after even the slightest minimum time .. is known to happen ..
    with other medical issues ..
and even cases of children getting 2nd degree burns from tan booth exposure ..
(I still can't believe some idiot adults would put their child in a tanning booth)

I'd say they just need to ban its use for under 18 yrs ..
(don't know any MDs that would write that Note for Tanning Booths?)

Just take care of your skin ..
    don't overexpose yourself ..
wear sunscreen and clothing too .. (as needed)

Tanning is bad for you, in a booth or out in the sun. It takes only a few minutes of exposure a day to get the benefits of sun exposure. Anything more than that (without sun screen) is doing damage.

Either it`s good for you or it`s not, a Doctors note isn`t going to change that !
A good old fashioned Sun tan the natural way is the best anyways ,and it`s free , only a small fee for the suntan lotion. sunshine girl on the beach california girls

They should not be allowed in without a *parent's* note. You shouldn't need a doctor's note for this. What's next? a doctor's note to hand to the lifeguard on the beach?
