And you white people when you born u pink, when you grow up you white, when you go in sun you red, when you cold you blue, when you scared you yellow, when you sick you green, and when you die you gray and you call me coloured!

    hmm ..
    interesting indeed ..
to know something that is not too common of a phrase
    (for cowardice) ..
kind of let's one think .. hmm .. is this really a child's thoughts (or more of what was 'learned')?

Now I beg to differ ..
in death .. everyone returns to the dust from whence they came ..

    Best poem?
seems to me .. there should have been other choices instead ..
(this really isn't what I'd consider good poetry .. )

This was around way longer than since 2005... and the English was much better in the original, too.

"“When I'm born I'm black, when I grow up I'm black, when I'm in the sun I'm black, when I'm sick I'm black, when I die I'm black, and you... when you're born you're pink, when you grow up you're white, when you're cold you're blue, when you're sick you're blue, when you die you're green and you dare call me colored”

You are right to be sceptical...

“When I'm born I'm black, when I grow up I'm black, when I'm in the sun I'm black, when I'm sick I'm black, when I die I'm black, and you... when you're born you're pink, when you grow up you're white, when you're cold you're blue, when you're sick you're blue, when you die you're green and you dare call me colored”

It probably was... notice the reference to "yellow" as cowardice? Not likely that a child of that age in the Third World would have knowledge of that. Still... I think it's kinda funny. :O)

It was, and the language was much better:

“When I'm born I'm black, when I grow up I'm black, when I'm in the sun I'm black, when I'm sick I'm black, when I die I'm black, and you... when you're born you're pink, when you grow up you're white, when you're cold you're blue, when you're sick you're blue, when you die you're green and you dare call me colored”

Is THAT who wrote this, then...? Interesting! More compelling than attributing it to a child, even. Thanks for putting me straight on this.

No worries... I decided to look it up, because I knew I'd heard it before.
