They got the Mayan calendar wrong by two months, does that put a crimp in your Halloween plans?

It seems that they got the Mayan Calendar wrong, the end comes October 21st instead of December 21st, but that's more speculation to add to the first date. The end will come when it comes, whether it's before or after, what would it matter anyway?

So does this put a crimp in your Halloween plans or not?

Wow, look at that face, his stocks must have dropped. When they blew up the Trade Center, he was totally stone face, no reaction at all, In fact he just kept on reading his upside down toddler book.

The psychotic delusion of blaming everything on Bush, bringing him up in things that have nothing to do with him, for 4 years after he is out of office! Maybe brain surgery might be in order!

Were just going to end the world on the 21st of October.... it's not a good time for me.

Can we do July 2013? I think I have a week free for the end of the world then...

o.o not sure if that's right or not. The mayans likely lined things up with the galactic alignment - which is still 12/21/12 ... so... take that as you will?

Either way, even in the prediction-happy cultures (like the mayans), things like the end of a long-count didn't mean the end of the world. It meant the end of an era. The last long-count end didn't spell the end of humanity either. Just the end of a specific 'age'.

Also, keep in mind that they thought they had a lot more time than they did - we could be missing the next long-count wheel because... well.. they thought they had far more time to carve it out.

Those who say 'well, they couldn't predict the conquistadors' are missing the stylings of these types of predictions - the Mayans predicted the general feel of specific times, not exact events.

The Mayans also didn't have leap years. Congrats, we survived 2012.
I'll be happily celebrating Halloween wearing whatever costume I get by then, eating taffy apples and candy, watching horror movies, and answering the door for little trick-or-treaters. ♥

Of course Mayans didn't have leaps years because they didn't use the gregorian calender. Gregorian calenders have 365 days a year when in fact there are actually about 365.25 days a year. So that's why we have leap years, to make up for those four 0.25 days we didn't count.
