The Wrongful Death of Megan Taylor Meier 1992-2006.

ServantOfAllah 2011/10/25 06:40:45
The heartbreaking story of Megan Taylor Meier. The senseless death of a teenage girl caused by cyber-bullies. In a recent poll on cyber-bullying some said it didn't hurt anyone, but Jason Feffer, co-founder of SodaHead, says it matters. Thank you Fef for taking a stand against cyber-bullies. Everyone please take a second to give Fef a rave by clicking HERE to show your support.

People bully. Countries bully. They feel it give them power. Many of us were bullied or bullies as children.

I don't understand who people could think it doesn't hurt, but I also don't think this is news.

why the hell weren't the parents who invented josh charged with manslaughter? Why aren't they in jail? How the hell does an adult decide to do this?

    Unfracking believable.

I don't know about giving fef a rave, but that was the most disgusting story I have ever heard. Those people, the ones who made up 'Josh', should be in jail for sucide assistance or something. If it had been my granddaughter, they would be dead!

No, I don't completely blame her. The charlatans provoked her, but she did NOT have to take her own life. The bullying was done online. She killed herself because of online trash talkers. She could've consulted her parents. The girl was vulnerable. I do empathize with her situation.

Hi there, Speaking of death prediction, I find it really odd that one of the on-line death prediction services showed me the same death date that I was foretold in my dream about a year ago. http://yourdeathdate.info/1/i... - I can’t explain this coincidence in any other way except that there must be some kind of magic involved here.

What a horrible thing to do to a child. The people who made up Josh should be in prison.

How badly did her parents fail in raising a daughter without an internal sense of self worth, who could deal with these "cyber" bullies like we used to deal with them when we were young on the playground? We ignored them (a fate worse than death for them, being ignored); or, in the proper case, kicking their ass, and in public to boot. The result was the same; they never bothered us again. Strength of character and self avoids these things; if we aren't preparing our children to face the real, "cruel" world", then we have no one to blame but ourselves. We have failed them, and should be ashamed, and look for no one else to blame. This is life, folks. This is reality. And it CAN be ugly.

As my mother used to insist: "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me." That's dealing with life as it is, not as we might wish it to be.

are you kidding? have you forgotten that you are talking about a child here? a child who believed that all of her friends think awful things about her? a child with a broken heart? this is a tough situation for an adult, let alone a 14 year old.

There was no justice for these parents. The woman is a murder--she caused the death of this young teenager. How can she sleep at night? I would haunted by the face of Megan an innocent teenager with her first crush on a boy. May God forgive this woman for causing so much heartbreak. God bless the parents.

A 13 year should not have had a MySpace because the age cut-off is 14. And having been on a number of social site forums, and I can tell you for a fact MySpace is pretty "cut-throat." I have been agressively bullied in their forum, which is why I don't go there anymore. Cyberbullies are like a pack of wild dogs, if they find any weakness they will attack you from all sides. To me however, what happened to this girl sounded way beyond on-line bullying.

I think you make a good point, but I honestly don't think that being 14 would have helped. I don't think being 16 would have helped. A 25 year old would have found this situation difficult, but might have been formed enough to not be so overwhelmed. And the fact that this hoax was perpetrated by a couple of adults makes it absolutely unforgivable. I do not understand why these people are not in prison.

Anyone who says bullying, cyber or otherwise, doesn't affect anyone... is simply talking out of their ass.

I'm unable to view the video, though. Can someone translate for me?

Quick rundown: Young teen Megan meets wonderful boyfriend online. He romances her, then later treats her like garbage and tells her no one likes her. She hangs herself. The "boyfriend" turns out to be the mom of a girl Megan had a disagreement with. Basically a very cruel hoax ending in the emotional pain and suicide of a child.

Damn... those other parents should have been charged with something... manslaughter... whatever... While I disagree with civil suit generally, this is one case where I think it applies... at least some way for the other parents to know they screwed up bad and caused the death of a child...

What a tragic story. In these days of super-fast technology and miraculous online gizmos and whatnot, parenting has taken at least one giant step further into the realm of almost impossible. The parents of Megan's ex-girlfriend should have been prosecuted for child abuse, if nothing else. What a lousy lesson to teach their daughter. They had no business butting in like that anyway. But the cold, calculated way they did it surely must fall into the realm of legalese where something is "reasonably anticipated" to be able to occur as a result of your actions. In this case those parents must surely have known they were treading dangerous territory but they did so with reckless disregard anyway. Hey, where are all the legal eagles? Megan's parents need to file a civil suit. I suggest that and I sincerely hate litigation as a general rule. But these people need to be reminded of what they did and Megan needs at least a little piece of Justice.
