Face The Facts USA:

Watch the video here.
Up to 1.2 million tax preparers make a living navigating the labyrinth US tax code for taxpayers. We have more professional tax preparers in the United States than law enforcement officers (765,000) and professional firefighters (310,400) combined.

The people selling the "fair tax" are doing so in a misleading way. The exclusive vs. inclusive difference is the most obvious. Then you start adding in the "special cases" like prebates for the poor, and it quickly turns into a convoluted mess.
Add in that most experts agree that the proposed amount (which is a lot higher than proponents pretend) simply is not high enough to actually match current government income. (Which already isn't anywhere near high enough to match their spending).
On top of all that, there's absolutely nothing stopping Congress from passing this law then turning around and re-instating all the taxes we currently have.
It sounds like it would be an improvement, but I don't trust the government enough to not use it as a way to make things worse.
As long as we're starting with a broken premise (that it's OK for some of us to steal from everybody else for "the greater good"), all solutions based on that premise will be just as broken.
The prebates are not special cases for the poor. They go to everyone.
Most experts who give the Fair Tax an honest look agree with it.
Mostly though, it just sounds like you'd rather just live in anarchy.
I forget the numbers now, so I'm just going to make them up. Which is basically what Fair Tax advocates do anyway.
If someone wants to sell me something and receive $1, with an 8% tax I expect to hand them $1.08. The way the Fair Tax is set up, I have to hand them something like $1.23. It's basic algebra, and my numbers could very well be off. My point is that the inclusive/exclusive thing is *horribly* misleading.
The prebates are *totally* a special case for the poor. If this weren't an issue, they wouldn't exist. I'm (philosophically, at least) OK with this. But it basically just amounts to the introduction of another loophole of the sort the Fair Tax is supposed to be trying to eliminate.
Please cite "Most experts." In general, "Most experts" I run across tend to be idiots like Alan Greenspan and a bunch of other cretins who couldn't understand basic economics (much less morality) if I handed it to them on a plate.
In fact, I *do* live in anarchy. As does everybody else. It's just that most of the rest of you (for some insane reason that I don't understand) prefer to live under the delusion that some other person has the authority to kill or maim you for...well, whatever reason.
We *all* live in anarchy. Every second of every day....

We *all* live in anarchy. Every second of every day. This has been a basic truth of every recorded second of human history. Most of us feel safer with some other human in authority. Don't expect me to follow this model.
I think only around 50% of the US population pays federal taxes.
I know 2 people who pay no federal tax and get $5,000 back each year. Last year they went to Hawaii.
With an income tax, your money is SEIZED!
With the FairTax, your money is PAID when YOU choose to pay it.
Why bother with forms? Why bother with filing ANYTHING? Let me pay my taxes at the checkout register whenever I choose to buy something! Tax consumption instead of taxing income. If you tax something you get less of it. We have a tax system that taxes you more as you earn more. We punish people for doing what we "say" we want them to do, i.e. be successful. We reward them for making mistakes. We subsidize falure and poverty while punishing success and wealth. Is that what we want?
Let me bring home my entire paycheck. Let me keep what I earn and let me CHOOSE when, where and how much taxes I choose to pay for the government I get. Pass the existing FAIRTAX bill that is in congress. It already has over SIX DOZEN consponsors from both Dems and GOP reps and senators. HR-25 and S-13.

Take a look at this tax reform that ABOLISHES the Income Tax...

If your Congresscritter is a cosponsor THANK HIM/HER! If she isn't a cosponsor, support the challenger that IS a supporter of the FairTax!
