" The robot stole my Job. . ." Have you ever lost a job to a robot and what does the future hold ?

It is estimated that 50 million US jobs could be lost to automated systems by 2030 and by 2040 robots that can mimic human intelligence will capture more than half of all human jobs.
During the Great Depression unemployment reached 25%. The impacts were profound and long lasting. But a recovery did finally happen. What happens when 50% of all jobs are lost to robots ? How could there ever be a recovery from that ? Sounds disastrous to me.

No, I have not lost a job to a robot. Robots as yet cannot provide customer service.

Thanks La. It's coming though and not that far off either. Robots don't need pay, medical care, toilet breaks , lunch breaks, holiday pay, in fact they can work 24/7 !

Someone will need a job fixing the robots... and remember, just because a machine can "mimic" human intelligence doesn't mean it has human intelligence.

The way we internalize thought, improvise, and conceptualize is something that every Psychologist worth their Ph.D will tell you can not be studied or even understood scientifically.

Thanks Beat Magnum. Mimicking human intelligence is probably enough to do a lot of jobs though. For instance waiting tables, collecting tolls, cleaning, etc etc.
