We had some pretty interesting discussion going on our poll about Emer O'Toole, a 28-year-old Dublin woman who stopped shaving her armpits 18 months ago to refine her self-image, so we thought it would be the perfect topic for this week's infographic. It's not often you see women go without shaving their armpits, but even Julia Roberts did it once. The demographic breakdown was pretty interesting, and to supplement the results of that poll we included a question about the pressure society puts on women to have better hygiene, which we broke down by gender. Wanna know how it all turned out? Let's dive.

I probably shouldnt admit this.....during the winter months when im in long sleeves and pants,i do slack off on the shaving. I just dont get that furry any more! :D. I shower everyday so i don't smell...I think u can have hair and not be unclean! I do not however like the look of hairy pits and stubbly legs.with warm weather now let's bring on the bic! !!! ;)

Sherie, the ensemble isn't complete until you walk by with hairy nubs sticking through yer pants and toilet paper clings to your shoe. Then, and only then, have you arrived.

Of course, women are pressured more, and it's not because we want to look good for the guys. Women, for some reason, seem to always be in competition with each other.

We are ashamed of our women and feel the need to keep them at an agreed upon weight, dress them up, shave them, cover their facial whatever with make up and dominate every aspect of their lives from bathroom habits to reproductive rights. The public who voted in this poll are more interested in artificially covering the shame and disgust they feel for the women in their life than loving them for who and what they are.

I don't really care. It's their choice, but I think shaving pits + legs gives them a more clean image. I don't dress to impress. I wear what's comfortable. I shave my pits cause it's more comfortable. The only time I shave my legs is when I get tired of them being fuzzy.

What I find gross are the people that don't wear underwear and have baggy pants. This guy was working in a window hanging something up. I turned my head whilst window shopping and got a view of pubes. Not cool, man.

I'm sorry, but this is the twenty first century, and we live in a first world nation. I really don't think it's too much to expect people to be clean and not look like sasquaches. Shaving isn't that hard. -___- Sure, it's good to feel confident despite your looks, but it's also good to look half decent. I don't care how confident and secure you are, you look mentally ill.

atleast you have an excuse, i love body hair (halfway between none and the second guy) on men but would never ever feel sexy with even a single body hair on myself.

I think natural women are hot. They are physically hot, and their confidence makes them so much more attractive. But I must say, I hate the title of this PO thread. Since when does NATURAL body hair make a women look less put together?

Most women groom/dress to impress other women, not men. Kinda weird. Most women spend DAYS getting ready for a date, and most men don't even notice. Kinda ironic.

Another interesting SodaHead poll...I don't know if SH voters can be construed as the 'public'--meaning, the general public, but I think we have a pretty good cross-cut of society here on SH. It seems America likes its women clean and shaven....no word on the men yet.

I personally cannot tolerate hair on my legs or pits but i don't care if other women can. I knew a woman that didn't shave her pits and she smelled bad, especially here in Fl..

Whether you like it or not,hair holds bacterial from sweating and it will smell,ask yourself,why do we need deodorant? There is no difference in men or women with the hair, both need to keep the hair shaved under the armpits.Keep the lawn down below shave too,less hair less odor! Real talk!

Personally, I don't like excess hair on me or any woman. It just doesn't look feminine to me. Maybe it's a cultural thing or maybe it's because because my husband is so hairy. I like the way he looks and find it a real turn on even after all these years. Me, I'll go with the smooth, soft look for women.

Like I've previously said, I like natural girls with the least amount of modifications and women shaving isn't necessarily hygienic.

Idk Ive seen guys do that a lot. They always talk about wanting a girl with natural beauty and dont think make up is ugly. but every time they see a hot girl they are all over her.
