The New Girl Scout Cookie Is Evidently 'Filled With Nutrients': Perfect or Pure Baloney?

It's no Thin Mint, but the latest Girl Scout Cookie is something else: healthy. At least, that's what they're saying. Mango Crèmes, the newest cookie creation coming from the Girl Scouts, is packed with nutrients -- or, more accurately, NutriFusion.

According to the company website, NutriFusion makes foods more nutritious by adding preserved all-natural nutrients to products. So Mango Cremes is a crispy cookie filled with mango, coconut and vanilla flavors -- along with a supercharged punch of nutrients. We're not sure how we feel about these health claims. In our eyes, a cookie will always be a cookie. But we'll let you make the final call on this one.

ABCNEWS.GO.COM reports:
Girl Scout cookie lovers accustomed to seeing items like peanut butter, chocolate, coconut and more chocolate on the ingredient list may do a double take when they see the newest cookie on the order form.

Alongside Tagalongs, Thin Mints and Samoas in this year’s Girl Scout cookie repertoire are Mango Crèmes, a crispy cookie featuring mango, coconut, vanilla and Nutrifusion™? Yes, Girl Scout cookies have been vitamin-punched.

    Well, not PURE baloney, maybe more baloney style... filled with "meat byproducts" or in this case, "nutrition byproducts." ITS A COOKIE, which by virtue of existing is NOT NUTRITIOUS! So now we can feel good about scarfing sweets, getting fat, and have some artificial nutrients?

    I have tried the Mango Cremes and I liked the flavor. I was also surprised that they did actually have quite a few vitamins in them. Naturally the caloric content was still high, but I liked the ideal of adding the extra vitamins.

    Puh leez. I love me some samoas and thin mints. But healthy cookies? Thats like making fresh orange juice out out rotten oranges. Totally defeats the name.
    Fresh orange juice = fresh oranges
    Cake = sugar
    Pickles = vinegar
    Steak = steak sauce
    Thanksgiving = turkey
    Valentines day = love
    Saint patricks day = luck
    Mondays = really bad work day
    Cookies = no health benefactors
    Am i right?

    Goodie for the vitamins...

    Now are they going to quit using way too much packaging to conceal the fact that each box of Girl Scout cookies always has fewer cookies than they used to?

    I like that even less; it simultaneously makes you feel ripped off as a consumer and guilty for filling landfills with useless, wasted packaging.

    Cookies aren't usually healthy. Especially girl scout. I was a Brownie when I was really young, and the carb and sugar content made me feel horribly guilty when I bit into a Thin Mint. Common Sense.
