This atrocious event happened in .December 2011,the case has only just come to court.A 23 year old English law student, from a goo respectable Christian family had spent the evening enjoying an early christmas drink and meal with friends, when it was time to head home she waited, with many others for the last "Pronto" bus operated byTrent Barton, which in turn is owned by one of the largest bus and railway operators in the UK Stagecoach,(known by many as highwayman). When the bus arrived, she joined the throng trying to board it,the fare to her destination 20 mins away was £5-00,when she went to pay she was 20pence short about 65cents I think.the bus driver would not accept her offer to make good the shortfall when her mother met her at her destination, and demanded she leave the bus, even though she pleaded with him saying it was 3am and she had no other means of getting home, not one of the 40 or so other passengers offered to help her,the driver belived to be an E european immigrant,(the company and his fellow drivers refuse to reveal his identity) maintained his arrogant intransigence and forced her off the vehicle. AND THEN SHE WAS RAPED BY THIS PIECE OF FILTH

joseph moran
He also beat her so badly that when her mother saw her she did't recognise her.
Now tell me there is no need for the death penalty!

I am shocked that no one on the bus gave/loaned this poor girl the 20 pence.

I hope they realize what their callous indifference cost.

    Moral bankruptcy indeed.

At Christmas? No one had the sense of the Holiday enough to offer up the equivalent of 65 cents? That's disgusting. I would also be bringing a suit against UK Stagecoach.

How sad. I can't imagine that not one person on that bus was decent enough to give the girl that little bit of change. I would never in a million years sit safely on that bus and allow the beastly driver to leave a young woman alone at a bus stop at 3:00 a.m., nor would anyone I know do such a thing.

Can we judge a whole nation because of one stupid bus driver?

It seems to be the case.

Or just plain scared, and there is a terrible but understandable reluctance to get involved for fear of being incriminated in some way or other.

But I agree with you, it boils down to not caring enough.

Terrible that this happened to her. I can only hope that she gets the support she needs. I do not know how the UK system of justice puts up with this sort of individual, all I can hope is that it will be harsh, and occur everyday that he is incarcerated

It makes a good argument for concealed carry laws. The police are usually only minutes away when seconds count.

Yes, I know, but that doesn't affect the relevance of the statement, does it? I don't believe concealed carry is allowed in the UK although I may be wrong. If it is, I don't believe it is widely practiced. As I understand it, the UK is pretty far down the road with limitations and prohibitions on gun ownership and public support for the same. We Americans with our 2nd Amendment would call UK gun laws Draconian. I think the comment regarding police is universal, although in some places the police may be more than minutes away.

Gun ownership there is severely controlled. So concealed carry is strictly a fantasy.

Actually in the UK, he police react very swiftly when to comes to weapons.. Makes our swat look like boy scouts. as far as gun crimes, those are very VERY rare.

I read about this in the paper. That poor woman. And this happened because nobody could be arsed to lend her a measly twenty pence. What happened to this country? Where did it all go wrong?

Oops, wrong option... anyway, this reminds me of a case where a teen girl was kept behind for some reason at school and she missed her bus. They wouldn't let her use the phone to call someone to get her and kicked her out of the principles office. So, she went to the gym to wait for her ride to be done with practice of some sort. The coach kicked her out of the gym and she was forced to wait oustide the school where she was gang raped by three guys. Sick, sad world.....

One of the signs of the time.....Matthew 24:12 "the great good had cooled off" Somebody should have helped her out. 3 in the morning.....that crazy.

Big story going on where I"m from is......That a young man killed a babysitter and twins that he was babysitting. He got away for about a week and was finally captured. This is the shocker......he probably will get life in prison if he pleads guilty. Do you think that is Justice? NO. Our laws, society, and humanity has about gone down the drain. More things like what you posted are going to continue to happen. We got to have a change.......one day

Of a story like this, I always prefer the news link. Anyhow, I would have spotted her the difference for the fair. And I have no qualms about executing garbage like him. I do believe the death penalty is a powerful deterrent to crimes of rape and murder. For the simple reason, no one really wants to die, when and if, they get caught. But many of these types do what they do, because they know deep down they are a worthless POS, and will get to live out the rest of their lives being supported by the state without having to wake up every day, go to a job and be a responsible human being. That's just something they can't or don't want to do. Prison life can be easy for some, once they adapt. And prisoners basically run the place ...not really the guards. But a gas chamber or hangman's noose ...that's the end of the road.

On the other hand , I don't think the death penalty is much of a deterent to violent crime. I believe most of these POS would rape and murder anyway. But , regardless of our differences of opinion , I am still in agreement with the Death Penalty. It is about justice.

True enough, mark. But if you have 10 of these lowlifes planning similar crimes, all 10 are likely to commit the crime under threat of zero capital punishment. Whereas under possible execution upon conviction, 5 of them may reconsider and not commit to the crime, but opt for something lesser.
Back in the wild west days, a man got hung for stealing another mans horse...very few horses were stolen back then.

So nice to know that the UK has bigots and haters just like the US. Does it really make a difference to the tragedy of this story that the young woman was a"good Christian" or that the driver was an immigrant. The whole story sounds like a made up excuse to spread hatred.

Nature of the beast, I suppose. If an immigrant or a gay or some other special interest group is harmed, the group identity of the victim will be front and center in any news report. If the perp were an alleged Christian, conservative, or some other "nice" group identity, then that will be front and center as well. And the outcry will begin against the group associated with the perp as if he is typical of that group.
