I resently went through am ordeal where I let my bestfriend live with me. She had no job, three kids. Her boyfriend was incarcerated and she lost her job. I felt bad for her and that's what friends are for. Right! Well obviously it was one sided and i was to stupid to see it. I went to work and came home to a house full of people I was supporting. Her kids have never been disciplined and where always runing through the house like maniacs. Jumpimg from one piece of furniture to another. All the while she is outside on her phone with no worries. Who, cares right? I was there and surely I would watch them. At least she thought so. I sucked it up and went day by day. Slowly I was draining myself of what little sanity I had left. A week before she moved in I had surgery so I wasn't exactly what you call healthy. Antways a couple months had past and I began to realize as long as said nothing and continued supporting a family that isn't mine she was never going to get off her ass and find another job. I mean why would she? She had me right? I sat her down and told her she had a few weeks to find her somewhere to live. That night she had nothing to say to me but my boyfriend had plenty to say. He said if i kicked her out that I was a sorry friend. I came home from work the next day to find them in MY bed together. I froze, my mind just completely snapped. If her kids hadn't of been there there's no telling what i would have done. I mean, i wasn't exactly in love with the dude but it's more what she did that hurt me so much. I told her to leave and can you believe she actually told me she wasn't going nowhere because by law I had to get an eviction to get her out. She actually called the cops and told them i was trying to throw her and her kids on the street. I could not believe my ears. She was right though. The police said I could not legally do anything unless i went to the courthouse to file an eviction. I did go the next day but it still toke three days to get it served and when we went to court another 7 days for her to move. I didn't even want to look at her another minute let along another week. I went to work that day and when I came home she was having one of her fits. She was saying all kinds of stuff on how she could snap my neck and she hopes i never have kids because i wasn't a good person. Because i was sending her kids to the street. She gave me the ammo i needed to get her out of the house. The officer who came out (because the neighbors called the cops from her yelling) told me to go and get a TPO (temporary restraining order) out on her. That would assure me that an officer would come to remove her from the premises. Sure enough i did. She can't come within five hundred yards of me for a year. But she finally founf=d somewhere to live. My exex house. Ieah, well, they deserve each other. Guess i didn't know her as much as I thought, Huh?
The point of the story is if someone stays with you for more than thirty days and they recieve mail at your address. The only way to legally remove them from your premises is to file an eviction.

I think the point of the story starts way before not allowing people to stay with you and get mail if you think you'll have to evict them -- it starts by choosing your friends carefully.
