People have been wondering about the validity of the rumored iPad Mini for months now... and it's finally been confirmed. Apple announced the iPad Mini Tuesday morning. The device is your standard Apple "upgrade": smaller than its predecessor -- with a 7.9-inch screen compared to the original 9.7-inch iPad -- and slightly redesigned. Do you think the iPad Mini has a market? Or is constantly making Apple products smaller a lame definition of an upgrade?

NEWS.CNET.COM reports:
The tablet, which has been rumored for months, does indeed come with a 7.9-inch screen.

    So first this happened:

    ipodpad

Now going in reverse? There's already a mini - called the iPod touch.

I ordered one today. I have the first I-Pad and although it's performance is flawless, there were times when I thought it was just too big. I guess we'll see when it comes in. I ordered the 16BD with Verizon configuration. I am excited about it though.

Smaller could be better, with a much smaller price tag.

The size is not at issue for me. I don't like the lack of the retina screen and think this one is still on the 3G network for those who are buying service with it. I would not waste my money on a 3G device today.

It's better for the ipeople who are willing to hand over the dough! It's definitely great for Apple's bank account.I thought that was the intent of the ipod touch?

The point of this particular size and form factor (which Apple did not introduce, but merely copied from devices such as the Nexus, Kindle, Nook, etc.) is that, unlike the full-sized iPad and similar-sized tablets, they fit nicely in a suit jacket pocket. It’s an important size niche for tablets. Not everyone wants to carry something the size of a notepad around with them all the time.

It's $350. Smaller is great...smaller prices that is. No I have no use for this overpriced tablet, just like it's older brother. When I get a tablet I'll but an affordable acer, or something else. Something that wont bust my budget all for lousy logo and name brand.

What is it with apple? Make the iphones bigger and the iPad smaller? This doesn't make any sense. The iPad needs to stay around the same size. It's really a small computer screen in a way, making it smaller would do any good.

    It. Is. A. Joke. Relax.
Apple comes out with a "new" product almost every two years that is only marginally different from the one that came before it. They slap a label on it saying "Improved" or "Better than Ever" or "Innovative" and people buy it only to find it isn't that different.

I'm not one of those whose jumping up and down and holding my breath for the new iPad because isn't going to be much different from the original iPad which its self is only different from the iPhone in that it doesn't make or take calls (unless you count Skyp).

It's the perfect size for a programmable remote control, if you want to spend $300+ on a remote control.
