Despite so many being accustomed to it, we are not built to divide our attention so much for so long. What's worse is that studies have shown most people are oblivious to the symptoms of mental diffusion that result. It's like having a blind spot when you're driving, except you develop more and more blind spots, yet never realize it.
The case cited in this article appears to compound that phenomena with sleep deprivation and high emotional anxiety, resulting in a much more dramatic mental breakdown.
The mind is a terrible thing... ;P
The average teen, for example, processes 3,700 texts a month. 1/3 of Smartphone users go online before getting out of bed.
The brains of Internet Addicts scan much like the brains of drug and alcohol addicts.
It just depends on the person ;-)

The Internet is full of useful information on that subject. ....and will be a refreshing change from my other hobby of fixing computers....
Just use it in moderation and you will be fine, dont try and get the internet shut down or else you will have a problem, a going backwards problem.
