I have nothing but good things to say for the fight for equality for GLBT folks. I think though there is such a thing as taking it all too far. I think we've reached that point. When EVERYONE is so PC that it becomes a joke, then the message becomes a joke.

I see nothing wrong with any superhero being gay. However, taking an established hero and doing something like this is bound to scare people. Notice I said scare and not anger. People are afraid of change, comic book fans included. Considering the DC universe reboot's record so far, I myself have little faith in them as far as creating a believable gay character. Writers everywhere these days (and even other everyday folks) keep forgetting that being gay does not define your entire personality. If DC can actually write a convincing gay character that isn't a full-blown stereotype - one that's an average Joe who just happens to prefer men - then kudos to them. But if they screw up and turn Green Lantern into a character that seems to scream "I'M GAY" for every appearance he has, then I seriously won't approve, not because I'm against gay characters, but because the writers don't know how to write anything but stereotypes. That's not just offensive, that's bad writing.

Didn't know Batwoman, Obsidian, and Renee Montoya were stereotypes. Bunker is, some, but I've known gay guys like that.

Thank god I don't read comics anymore I would probably barf on the issue. Don't know what's going on at DC. It was bad enough when they had Superman renounce his US citizenship, so much for "truth, justice, and the American way" this is a new low for DC Comics.

I could really care less about gay people one way or the other. But rewriting a character to fit a politically correct agenda is low and stupid. They should have created a new character or the next Green Lantern. I wouldn't read it because I don't approve of the lifestyle but that's my option. Those that are gay have a right to read comics with gay characters and they should havve that option as well. My personal opinion on the lifestyle is just that. You know what they say about opinions. They are like armpits, everyone has them and they all stink. LOL you may feel mine stinks or u may agree. That's what makes this country great. We are all free to have an opinion. If they are going to start doing crap like this, they need to have a storyline where the Boy Wonder sues The Batman for molesting him and one of where Catwoman gets involved with bestiality just to cover all the bases. We need to make sure all the kids get a well-rounded education sex education just in case they missed it in the 3rd grade.

Those other two things you mentioned are definitely not. And what the hell is wrong with kids seeing or reading about gay people? Gay people are not defined by what kind of sex they have; they are defined by who they are attracted to. And in case you're worried about kids getting a "well-rounded sex education", then don't let them read superhero comic books, because they're already full of heterosexual sex scenes, skintight outfits, and impossibly huge breasts.

There is no "agenda" to homosexuality, you ignorant fool. Gays don't try and convert others to becoming gay. You're either born gay, or you're not. You're not forced into it, you just are. And yes, there are children out there who already realize they're gay, but SO WHAT?

No not convert but attempt to be a special protected group like a minority race if you will. There are so many other worthy causes for society to be spending time and money on. It is something that I and the people around me are so sick of hearing about. We have people with real troubles that need attention. And,from what I have withnessed the cause is pretty disgusting. The homosexual pride parades for the most part are indecent no matter who you are. I would be arrested and labeled if I behaved the way I have witnessed their behavior in public. And wasting taxpayer dollars teaching about it in school? Let the parenting do that. Its just time to for that particular group of people to go to work and go home like the rest of us. As a long time comics fan, I bought my first comic in 1969, I have followed his story for decades. This is a contrived storyline and it shows. A new character who is gay, or in the closet and comes out, is fine; but this is sacrilege.

One of them was. In order of appearance, there was Alan Scott, Hal Jordan, John Stewart (the black one), Guy Gardner, and Kyle Rayner, unless you also count Alan Scott's no-longer-existent daughter, Jade.

It's not the Green Lantern your thinking of. It's the Golden Age Green Lantern Alan Scott, not Hal Jordan (the one from the movie)

Why do they have to change a character's sexual orientation after it has already been established before? Totally unnecessary, if they want to be politically correct, create a new superhero and make them gay, why go back and change a fairly well known superhero?

And most of the readers I know could care less.



Hopefully they will give good writing w/o beating us over the head with this.

I'd prefer Obsidian and Jade still being around, personally.

I only wished they picked a more iconic/significant Green Lantern, not too many people follow Alan Scott's I think, or he is not one of the main Lanterns.

I only wish they had made a whole new one, so that they could have become "iconic" based on their own merits, and over time, like every other character had to.
