The 'Chinplant' Was the Fastest-Growing Cosmetic Procedure in 2011: Would You Get One?

When we think of cosmetic procedures, we think of breasts and Botox. But the fastest-growing cosmetic plastic surgery procedure in 2011 was ... the "chinplant," according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, The Los Angeles Times reports.

"The chin and the jawline are among the first areas to show signs of aging," Dr. Malcolm Z. Roth, the organization's president, said in a statement. "People are considering chin augmentation as a way to restore their youthful look just like a facelift or eyelid surgery."

chinplants

Overall, chin implants were up 71 percent over 2010, and split almost evenly between men and women (who may be trying to look young to compete in the workplace, the group suggests). However, the top four surgeries were still the ones you've heard the most about: breast augmentation (over 300,000 procedures), nose jobs (over 240,000), liposuction (over 200,000) and eyelid surgery (nearly 200,000).

The face-life made the top five for the first time since 2004, and lip augmentation and cheek implants also rose in popularity. Botox, which just celebrated its 10th birthday, was the most popular "minimally invasive" procedure. So ... would you get a chinplant to look younger? Or are you happy with the chin you were born with, thank you very much?

If I needed one, why not? I find then more helpfull than breast implants actually, because the face is what people notice most. Chin implants are like any other aesthetic surgery.

Just because I like my chin. Every plastic surgery depends if the client feels bad about something he/she has to see everyday on the mirror!

I wouldn't have any kind of plastic surgery done. People should be happy with the way they look, it's ridiculous how many people look great and have their body and face ruined by a cosmetic procedure.

To be honest, I'm surprised. I figured testicular implants would have been number one, considering how many people (online) have been pretending they grew a pair lately.

Well, I HAVE a chin, so I don't need that. I have seen some people, though, who really sadly have NO chin. There is no definition between their face and a slope into their neck. I would do it then, along with some structure to the jawline.

Yes if necessary to correct a disfigurement resulting from an illness or medical condition,
an injury, or a birth defect. Otherwise, I would not.

I might volunteer however to be the donor recipient when Jay Leno gets a chin reduction?
