Doctors are warning parents about a dangerous new trend after six teenagers drank hand sanitizer and ended up in Southern California emergency rooms with alcohol poisoning.

Dr. Billy Mallon works in the emergency room at Los Angeles County USC Medical Center.

He said he’s seen too many young people come through the hospital’s doors because they tried to get drunk by guzzling hand sanitizer.

The trend may seem harmless or even laughable, but doctors say it’s harmful and dangerous.

Sick, isn't it ..
there was even an episode of the A&E; Series 'Intervention' ..
where the one choosing the poison ..
desired it so much ..
after waking up in the hospital from almost dying ..
Took the ice water cup .. went over to the hand-sanitizer in the room
(in front of the camera)
FILLED that cup, swished the straw around .

And ACTUALLY DRANK that ...

(so sick indeed .. that one's kidneys were shutting down too and they were warned next time .. the MDs might not be able to save their life .. )

Whatever... these "trends" are typically cases where 2 or 3 kids out of the entire USA did something stupid, so the media runs into a panic. Of course, knowing the social engineering that goes on in my home country, I fully expect my obviously 33 year old face to be carded to buy Hand Sanitizer in the future.

This is right there with the nutmeg story...

First, teens stole booze from their parents liquor cabinet and they were ON.
Now, they suck down hand sanitizer and they're MOR ONS.
