Teen Masturbation!

I think most people do it, even most adults. While there are probably certain spiritual implications, and a person should be careful about what he is thinking while doing it, I definitely don't think it is always evil. I also think it is wrong to intentionally embarrass someone for it, or to spread rumors about such a personal habit. I remember how I felt as a child when I first found out that what I had been doing was something related to sex. I hated it when my cousin mentioned it in front of my brother, and how sick I felt inside when he told me that my grandparents had been talking about it with other family members as though it were some kind of problem. I just hadn't known yet to keep it private. The moment I understood it, I felt quite embarrassed that other people were so focused on my having done it, and I wished that I never had.

I am currently at a point in my life where I have been given the spiritual strength to resist the temptation to masturbate, which has been especially important to me because of the nature of my disturbing fantasies, but it was a lifelong addiction from almost as early as I can remember. I know I was doing it when I was four, and probably as early as two. I thought I was the only person capable of it, who was created with parts that felt good when rubbed, because I assumed if other people could do it, they would be doing it all the time too. Nobody thought to talk to me about it that early, perhaps for fear of having to explain sex to me before they were ready. I wish they had done so from the start, in a non-accusatory way, instead of letting me do it in public for years only to feel ashamed of it later.

I'm lucky I wasn't teased or ridiculed for it, since the kids in elementary school were mean about pretty much everything else. I hate to think what could have happened if I had been caught doing it as a teen.
