'Tanning Mom' Says She's Innocent and Critics Are 'Jealous': Believe Her?

Have you heard about the "tanning mom" yet? Patricia Krentcil of New Jersey has been accused of taking her 6-year-old daughter into a tanning booth, causing skin burns ... but she says she's innocent and her critics are "jealous."

"I'm innocent and it's proven... I would never -- never -- put my daughter in a tanning booth. We go out shopping. That's what we do," Krentcil told TMZ on Thursday. "Any mother that makes an accusation about me is not a mother, because I'm a great mother and I would never do that to my child." When asked by TMZ if she's the target of a witch hunt, Krentcil replied: "Yes. Yes. There's somebody out there on my whole life that doesn't like me because they're jealous, they're fat and they're ugly."

Krentcil does have some people on her side, though. The owner of City Tropics Salon in Nutley said employees who were there that day told him the girl remained outside with her father and brother and didn't go into the tanning booth while Krentcil was inside, CBS and The Associated Press report. New Jersey state law prohibits anyone under 14 from using a tanning salon.

Krentcil, who faces a second-degree child endangerment charge, pleaded not guilty in Newark Municipal Court on Wednesday morning; she's now free on a $2,500 cash bond. Police told The Nutley Sun newspaper they were called to the child's school April 24 because the kindergartner was in pain from a "pretty severe sunburn," and that she was complaining of itching, saying she had been to a tanning salon with her mom. Krentcil says her little girl got a sunburn from being outside on a warm day.

I don't believe critics are jealous, of course; you only have to look at her to wince, but just because she abuses her body does not mean she's guaranteed to do the same to her child.

Jealous of what? She looks like a fool. On another note tanning beds should be outlawed. We know without a doubt that they cause cancer. Think about it, cigaretes can take up to 60 years to kill you, tanning booths will get the job done in less than a third of that time.

to me, i think she overdid the tanning. And Im no where near to being jealous of a person who tans at tanning salon. I tan naturally, when i want to or not. If my skin is exposed to the sun, then boom skin is tan. So, why would i be jealous when i can get tan naturally

She obviously has an unhealthy addiction to tanning. I wouldn't be surprised if she wanted her daughter to follow what she believed to be okay. It's not the first time that this has happened. The part about jealousy, and how all her critics are fat and ugly, well I think that is just an immature dream of hers. That something is wrong with people just because they disagree with her.

It's possible that she's innocent, but she needs a good bitch slappin', regardless. First of all, whenever you drag out the "fat and ugly" straw man to justify your argument, as far as I'm concerned, you must have the I.Q. of a potato. If your only argument is "people who don't like this must be fat and ugly," then you have no argument at all. Even if they are "fat and ugly," being so does not render their point invalid.
Second, jealous? Bitch, please! I have never once looked in the mirror and said "oh, if only I could look like a well barbecued Oompa Loompa, my life would be complete!" What the hell has she been smoking?

Being Black the real color I can see that being the case but that is not looking right at all. My color looks good like carmel gold look but that is ughh...No. She clearly over did it. I think pale white looks just fine on white people but a lot of my white friends dont like it I dont know why. Be what you are and be happy.

She may not have brought her daughter into a tanning booth, fine, but she sets an awful example for said daughter. She clearly has a problem, and should probably be treated by a psychologist, because a woman like that is not right in the head.

Also, I will never be jealous of a woman who's face looks like an old leather handbag, thanks, I'll stick to my flawless, healthy skin.

She is very tan, I saw her mugshot. She obviously put on some sort of bronzer for her interview that gives you a kind of shiny, golden look, I have some and I imagine if I bought the one for dark skin and put on a couple coats I would look like that too, naturally I'd rather be dead than look like that. I have never tanned anywhere that would allow you to bring a child in the room with you, there is always an area for children. She probably has some cheap sunlamp at home or something. I am not against tanning, I go almost everyday but I would never allow a child to do it. I hope CPS takes her child away. This woman obviously has serious issues and people being jelly is not one of them.

On another note, I generally find tanning to be gross.....at least tanning from a tanning salon. A natural tan can be pretty.

Ummmm, the only way you can get sunburned in the sun is if you don't put sunblock on. Anyways the child said she got it from going to a tanning salon, not being outside. Either the mom is lying or the child is, and so far, I don't think it's the second one.

The woman is no where near that dark (photo shopped) and tanning salons are not allowed to have additional people in the rooms with beds or booths. It's in the code, if this woman had her child in the room with her it's a violation of the health department code.

I keep telling my sister when she goes tanning that she going look like this.
That's just gross and unhealthy for that woman and for the human to see.
