The automobile was just a blip. Soon we will all own and use horses for transport in the "around town" mode. subways and Elevateds will take care of the longish city travel and railroads will make a big comeback. All about disappearing petroleum resources.
Take care of those wonderful creatures. IF dogs are man's best friend then horses were longtime friends of the family.
When I hear of them being treated as glue factory candidates I just get livid.

As the economy continues to falter, law enforcement officers in Kentucky and throughout the country are seeing major increases in the number of unwanted and neglected horses, some abandoned on public land, others left to starve by their owners.
The situation has renewed the debate over whether reopening slaughterhouses in the United States — the last ones closed in 2007 — would help address the problem. Some states, Missouri, Montana and North and South Dakota, for example, are looking at ways to bring slaughterhouses back.
An estimated 100,000 horses a year are shipped to Canada and Mexico for slaughter, prompting Congress to consider a bill that would ban the sale and transport of horses for human consumption outside the country. But Arkansas, Georgia and eight other states are against such a ban, saying owners need affordable options for unwanted horses.... Read full article »

i do not have a horse,, i live on a horse farm with 20 stables and a pasture,, because i do not have the resources to properly care for a horse.
we have tenants ,, 4 horses and they are only charged 300 a month and they cant even pay that. they treat these horses like their babies but cant afford to feed em proper and because were too friendly we havent kicked em out yet for not paying their bording..
i like meat ,, if ya cant care for your livestock then its time to eat.

i dont have horses to take care of because i dont have the money, i know this , i accept it. the clownshoes out here have 4 out of foolish sentiment and i want them gone but its not my call.
