surveys have shown that the north mostly says stuffing, but about half of the south refers to it as dressing, and there are a few folks who call it filling.

ugh. Now I really feel foreign..my family does not eat it. I really do not know WHAT I call it. I had it once with a family in Canada and they call it stuffing so I guess stuffing. lol

dressing!

I say dressing because we didn't and don't stuff the bird. Digging dressing out of a birds cavity just looks nasty to me. No, can't do that!

that makes sense. to me, If it's in the bird I call it stuffing, and if it's on top of it and around it I call it dressing
