Study Says Your Shoes Reveal a Lot About You: What Kind of Shoes Do You Usually Wear?

Do you live in your worn-out Converse? This may reveal your age, income, sex and what kind of girlfriend or boyfriend you are, according to a new study. After reviewing photos of boots, flip-flops, lace-ups, loafers, sandals and sneakers -- the most common type of shoe submitted in the study -- people were best at figuring out a person's age, sex and income, the "Today" show reports.

"Age, gender, and income are usually pretty 'visible" characteristics [from shoes], so it's not surprising that observers picked up on them," study researcher Dr. Angela Bahns, an assistant professor of psychology at Wellesley College in Wellesley, Mass., told "Today."

But researchers were surprised that study participants could also guess whether a person had "attachment anxiety" based on his or her footwear, meaning, how worried a person is that his or her close relationships will abandon them. How can you tell if someone is a clingy girlfriend based on what kind of sneakers she is wearing? Shoe upkeep (or lack thereof) may reveal if you are laid back or more of the nervous type. Something to keep in mind next time you polish your shoes!

Yes but what happens when you get inside: a school or a mall for example...you get all sweaty and prickly.

They're house slippers. I only wear them to a store if I'm feeling especially lazy. And they've never gotten all sweaty or prickly. They're pretty awesome that way.

I like sneakers because they're a lot more comfortable than most other shoes, I hate sandals if I'm not on the beach and I prefer boots only for the snow. It's more of comfort in my opinion not about a personality type.

Can't you be optimistic about something? You aren't wearing the shoes and you didnt buy them. So what if he/she likes name brand shoes. You can't always wear Walmart shoes you know.

That manipulating, opressive transnational? I loathe it.
If you meant that as an insult, it sorely failed, congratulations.

Actually I was hoping it would change the little bitch locked deep down in that pit you may call a soul. But I guess we were both wrong. So as a result I may care about your decision to sit in front of a computer and insult people and the decisions they make on name brand shoes, but then again I might not. So don't get your hopes up on ruining people's dreams and ideas because it just might come back and bite you in the ass hard. But you probably think that it's okay to be pessimistic. So you just might not give a damn. And that is what makes you optimistic. You're so happy to be a pessimist that you are an optimist about it. So I guess I wasn't wrong.

As if what some nameless and faceless entity over the vast Internet says will have any effect on me.
I say what I say realistically and matter of fact, not meant to make people laugh or cry.
I don't know why you had to write a speel about what my personality is, you don't even know me to make assumptions?

Thank you Mr. Swag for your opinion. I really dislike people who are materialistic like this, and think that wearing brand names is cool. I can get equally good clothes without brand names.

I know, but your ranting about sweatshops. Americans cant really change how products are created.

From the time I was in the military all I wore was boots. Most of my working life I wore boots. Now retired, I still wear boots. I like the way steel toes hold the shape of the boot. I don't know if that says anything about me. Just how accurate and what purpose did this "study" serve?
