Do you live in your worn-out Converse? This may reveal your age, income, sex and what kind of girlfriend or boyfriend you are, according to a new study. After reviewing photos of boots, flip-flops, lace-ups, loafers, sandals and sneakers -- the most common type of shoe submitted in the study -- people were best at figuring out a person's age, sex and income, the "Today" show reports.

"Age, gender, and income are usually pretty 'visible" characteristics [from shoes], so it's not surprising that observers picked up on them," study researcher Dr. Angela Bahns, an assistant professor of psychology at Wellesley College in Wellesley, Mass., told "Today."

But researchers were surprised that study participants could also guess whether a person had "attachment anxiety" based on his or her footwear, meaning, how worried a person is that his or her close relationships will abandon them. How can you tell if someone is a clingy girlfriend based on what kind of sneakers she is wearing? Shoe upkeep (or lack thereof) may reveal if you are laid back or more of the nervous type. Something to keep in mind next time you polish your shoes!

Thanks, I can remember practicing as a child in my Mom's shoes. My daughter got all of my shoes and boots, lucky girl.
I stil go gaga over shoes I can't wear anymore :)

Or heels of some sort. Sneakers rarely happen with me, unless I'm going for a run or something. And flip-flops/ANY kind of sandals don't happen unless I'm on a beach... which isn't often.

Generally, though, it's a good pair of heels, boots (with heels) or a nice pair of flats (although, that's kind of rare... I'm not very tall).

I buy plain black leather sneakers (like referee shoes) they can be shined and look nice and even a little dressy sometimes, I do however have some Corfams that are always shiny if I really need to dress up.

mostly skateboarding shoes and chucks but nowadays everyoen wears chucks so im assuming it doesnt mean everyone is poor (Chucks used to be worn by people who didnt have alot of money, for people who didnt know)

I used to wear heels everyday of my life til i was 22 and got fibromyalgia. I traded all my heels (over 50 pair) for converse!!! I dont regret it. They are hottest shoes ever!!!!
