CA.NEWS.YAHOO.COM reports:
Organic produce and meat typically isn't any better for you than conventional varieties when it comes to vitamin and nutrient content, according to a new review of the evidence. But organic options may live up to their billing of lowering exposure to pesticide residue and antibiotic-resistant bacteria, researchers from Stanford University and the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System found.

The study only shows its the same in Vitamin and Nutrient content, it fails to mention the potential harm of certain chemicals and hormones contained in non-organic food, regardless, I prefer organic not because of possible health benefits but because of taste and composition and although it may cost more, I end up getting more for my money.

true natural chemicals like many of the poisons we use. there are probably a lot of harmful chemicals used in farming. That however does not mean that all chemicals are harmful, but like everything those that create markets are more interested in their market then in being totally honest in their approach.

Please, never say that again. If there were no chemicals there would be no life. You, me and the universe would cease to exist.

It might not have more nutritional value, but it certainly tastes better... And, no pesticides, chemicals or hormones, either!

It seems oddly like the article claims it IS healthier. It first states that the food is not different in terms of nutritional content...and then that it IS likely better in terms of lowering exposure to pesticides and antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

If you limit the scope of whether it's healthier "in these terms" then you're not really answering whether it's healthier.

Orange juice for example is smoother, and has a better fuller taste to me it makes me want to savor it little gulp at a time. The conventional orange juice is not the same. Try them side by side, Minute Maid next to Snopac. A garden grown tomato tastes better to me. Conventional gardening kills everything, and does not have the trace minerals in the soil.

It's not the vitiamin content or nutritional value that people buy organic foods for. It's the lack of pesticides and genetic alterations they are after. No one has ever said they were higher in nutrition. The homone enjected animals and even veggies was not addressed.

Although organic might taste better, but not "mind-blowingly" so. Certainly not worth the price... but there in lies the rub, in the end it's all about the money. More power to them, they just won't get my dollars.

Organic is healthier... Now if they'd quit putting out chemicals in the soil, on the plants, and in our food, along with hormone shots and genetic engineered foods, etc, then we may just have some good old organic food that God had created in the first place, before man decided to screw it up and make us all ill.

I'm all for more sustainable approaches to growing and raising food, but I'm VERY skeptical of Organic, and I work in the produce section of my local (Privately owned) grocery store. I have never noted a difference between Organic and Conventional food, and I know that when a taste test is done, people can never tell the difference when its a blind study. To top it of, Chemicals do get used to grow organic food, just not the chemicals that might sound scary to consumers. And most importantly, lack of certain pesticides and other less efficient but, "Natural" techniques means more crop loss, which means less crop yield. Which means that even if you are not polluting the environment in one way, you are using more land and a larger carbon footprint for the same amount of food. The heart of organic food is in the right place, and it is a excellent experiment, but its time to look at the results and find out if the farming organic concept actually helps the environment.

One study-of-other-studies versus hundreds of original research studies from around the world that say otherwise. Nuh-unh.

Also, how did they choose from among the studies? Did they use a broad spectrum of well-researched, peer-reviewed sources, of did they cherry-pick the ones that would give them the results that they wanted?

Finally, exactly who funded this study-of-studies? The pesticide industry? The fertilizer industry? Who?

As always, take the results of these types of studies-of-studies with a significantly-sized grain of organic salt. Then follow the money.

I try to steer clear of pesticides, herbicides, steroids and antibiotics in my food. Also preservatives, food coloring and artificial flavoring. This movement is growing by leaps and bounds. All these things are harmful but may not effect the nutritional value.

organic beats eating fish in your carrots or carrots in your fish (GMO) along with all the poisons they spray on non organic veggies and all the poison they feed cows along with ahnti biotics because they are so sick as they live in factory's instead of outside where they should be! oh and they use amonia on some meat, and thats legal somehow.

our milk shoul dbe unpasturized as well, unpasteurized is HEALTHIER and thats why the government made it illegal to sell unpasteurized milk!

the government and corps that sell you food don't give a crap about yyour health, they only care about the money that goes into their greedy pockets!

non organic is usually bigger and cheaper..which means its easier to fit into a budget and a person has MORE veggies/fruit in thier diet...makes it better/healthier to me
its healthier when the consumer can afford to have it in their diet...
