Like many things that become "public safety campaigns", the definition of road rage has been GREATLY expanded over the years. The term no longer means just those things you think it should.
I vote women because I am guilty ow "WALKING RAGE."
For that matter, the road rage aspect of this study appears to have relied on self-reporting: It could simply be that the potentially nonrepresentative sample of women involved in the study were more honest than the men or had a lower threshold for what constitutes "road rage" to them.
Of course, it could also be that women are more prone to road rage...but with a ton of other explanations for these results, why assume the most insulting possible one off the bat? The same would apply if men ranked higher.
Personally, I have seen more men than women swear and drive dangerously.
Here in Europe, certain machist prerogatives are persisting, namely regarding driving. Men are still taking more risks than women, not only for themselves but also for the other traffic participants and their passengers. And women, who are anticipating and cautious while driving are considered dumb and bad drivers ...
The problem is presently the texting and telephoning while driving, and both sexes are concerned. Here in Europe, they introduced very strict laws in this regard, as an increasing rate of accidents was due this new trend.
Sometimes it feels really good to cut loose at some idiot -- nobody can hear me.
