Do you ever find yourself sharing just a tad too much on Facebook, or your social network of choice? And if you do, do you kind of ... enjoy it? You're not alone. A new Harvard study finds that our brains respond to self-disclosure the same way they respond to food, money or sex, the "Today" show reports. In other words, oversharing is a pleasure.

"When you look at the neural regions generally associated with rewards like money or sex or food, those same regions seemed to respond more robustly when people were engaging in self disclosure than when they were not," said Diana Tamir, a graduate student in the Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience Lab at Harvard and lead author of the study, according to "Today."
Tamir also found that subjects were willing to go without 17 to 25 percent of their potential earnings if they could confess information about themselves to others. And it wasn't just the blabbermouths. "You might think that gregarious people are more highly rewarded but shy people also like to share their thoughts," Tamir added. Admit it: do you overshare from time to time? Or is that totally TMI?

Media is like life if you do not like something you have the option to ignore it change the station or deal.

Only a repressed and insecure person or a complete moron would behave in this manner.
NO ONE .. absolutely NO ONE needs to be THAT intrusive into my life ..
and I do NOT need to know THAT MUCH about anyone else either ..
OVERSHARE? Smells of Desperation for Attention (in any way possible)
If some people think over sharing is as pleasurable as Food, Money and Sex they definitely need to get a life.
Interesting study. I believe it. I used to reveal way too much information to people in general, not necessarily on Facebook. I was insecure, and it was my way of trying to connect with people I guess. It's not a great idea. It may make the person airing their dirty laundry feel great, but it makes other people really uncomfortable.
