I'd really like to know how they figured this out. (And who was funding the study)

I don't understand how being obese = more injuries entirely. On one hand, the surgeons would have to work through all that fat to reach your organs if you needed a surgery performed on one of your organs and you happened to be obese; but on the other hand, unless there's a property of fat tissue that I haven't heard of yet, the fat would act as a cushion for your bones and organs by spreading the force of the crash throughout your body and further from the vital stuff.

However, being insanely fat can still present a problem when you drive. If your stomach is so squishy and large that it practically devours your steering wheel and you have to force the wheel to turn (rare, but it happens)... you definitely need to do something to make sure you don't crash.

In simpler words, being insanely fat increases your risk of getting in an accident, but being a little fat doesn't. If you can turn the steering wheel and operate the pedals with ease, and have the right mindset for the road, you should be good to go.

I can see why, driving around with a greasy spoon burger in one hand and fries in another and a big ole belly between you and the steering wheel, somethings gotta give.

Studies find that in increase in studying things helps the obvious confirm common sense, however we have yet to find one person that initiates these obvious studies to be able to actually use and comprehend common sense.

they could go into diabetic shock while driving, have a heart attack while driving and a whole list of complications that can make them a hazard. The morbidly obese that is. Not that BMI bs obese...That's why truck drivers must pass a physical to keep their CDL

The question is about obese people, not everyone else. If you had a skinny race car driver and a really fat race car driver who would you bet on?

Fat people should be poked with sticks and forced to attend the GYM or slaughtered for their meat. I believe that they shouldn't be allowed marry, have kids or engage in any sexual activity unless they are under a certain weight.

Not at all, it's about how you drive not how fat you are, I've seen more skinny people get in accidents than fat people when I see them happen, bad drivers are bad drivers no matter if they're skinny or fat.

If your fatter you're body can't move as fast, so obviously your reaction time is way lower, which means you might not be able to avoid someone else

I never said they were the only ones. All I said was the fat people would probably be more likely to get into an accident.

I don't think they are, I think people who don't pay attention to the road are more likely to get into an accident... like these people who are skinny by the way...

Where is the fat guy/girl that just left mcdonalds for the 2nd time in a day and is stuffing her/his face?

I don't know, I honestly have never seen anyone "stuffing their face" when driving ever.
Do you know people who stuff their face with mcdonalds? I don't know anyone.

Being a huge fat ass is a lifestyle choice, you must eats tons of calories and be wholely inactive on a day to day basis to maintain fat figure. Ever watch the biggest loser, they do some exercise and eat right then shed 40 lbs in a week....in a week!

over eating and being a pig is a myth for obese people. not all obese people eat fast foods,I seldom do, it is assumed that thin people are not pigs and obese are, I have seen plenty of thin people shove that food down in massive quantities believe me. I personally never eat, talk on the phone when driving. I drive a truck and I know that I have to be even more careful since it is so big and many places around here have fairly narrow roads small parking lots etc. so I do not risk distracted driving as much as possible. my weight doesn't seem to be an issue.
