Processing something as an object (body parts) is not the same thing as the act of objectifying women.

Our brain also sees animals as food. But we are able to refrain from eating our cat.

Men can (and should) act right toward women.

And men LOVE bad girls too; I mean, as with women, most of them. That's not a gender thing. People, regardless of gender, are generally attracted to those who represent a challenge, who give them some work and are not all available to them.

My x-wife, we were married 30 years, had a girl friend who had very bad luck with men. One would go crazy on her and I would be moving hsr stuff in to my garage again, I got used to her stuff better than mine. Each time the same thing, bad guy, good looking heal, woman chaser, etc. I figured it out. Would you like me to share with you? Would you like me to tell you what it is?

She was pretty and all her life everyone wanted to be her friend. (Now tell me if you have heard this one.) But she never knew, if they really loved her or just her beauty. o she figured if she could get a handsome guy that could have anyone he wanted and if he she could change him into loving her she would know he actually loved her.

Wow, I think those things happen when people don't make the effort to try to establish a connection at a deeper level. But I'm not judging; some people don't know better and they are not to be blamed for this. But you know what tactic works for me? Although I'm not "absolutely gorgeous (in the cultural sense of the words)"... seeing the people's reactions when I look good and when I'm not in my best days does it. Usually, the ones who don't really care about you as a person will stop giving you any attention the day you don't look as good as they are accustomed to see you and will give their attention to someone who looks better that day. The ones who don't want you for your looks only (even if that was the reason they approached you at first,) won't care whether you look slightly bad that day, as all they care about is your presence. That's why at some point in the beginning of a relationship, I will display my not-so-good-looking angle...because this will let me know who cares about me and not my looks.

The words men and deeper level ought never be used in the same sentence when discussing romance.

Because, Dina, men are so very shallow! Women seem to be sensitivity driven and men hormonal. My friend Oscar has written that "all women become like their mothers. That is their tragedy. No man does . That is his."

Your boyfriend should take his talents of mental discipline and his hands (which now by law are considered weapons.) And find a woman who has some intellect. He is a skilled fighter now, something Alpha males do. Beta males don't know martial arts.

What about Lions and penguins? Both show females taking a different role. But I guess since we cant communicate, we should just label it as instincts...

Excuse me.....Women are constantly targeted to take care of their appearance...I've never been able to cause a women to do or think what she didn't want in my life....and cultural thing, if it has always been a certain way it's not cultural, it's natural. Thank you very much.

But it's not you; it's society (groups of people) and its response to a women's appearance which cause her to make it a priority. And if you didn't know, society sets tons of unwritten rules and exerts pressure for people to follow them; such that, when a person doesn't fit in these standards, they are called weird, creep and all kind of names, as in punishment for defying the widely accepted norms. Many cultures different than our own also are perceived as weird because their ways are different than those we grew up seeing as "normal." In ancient times, people who dared to defy societal norms by being different were even killed for this; but you don't have to see too far, look what happens when someone admits to be gay in an Islamic country (they have 2 options, either change their sex and conform to the female-&-male-only norm or be severely punished.) You are underestimating the power of society and its influence over our own behaviors, whether gender-related, socioeconomic, religious, educational, or you name it, but that is so because you see things through cultural lenses instead of from outside the box. Anyway, recently, it's also all the marketing campaigns by companies promoting their beauty products which are targeting women to buy and hence they do one or other thing...

But how do you know it has always been this way though? Have you traveled in time? Give a glance to different cultures at different points in time, and you'll see that many men have given equal importance to their appearance as the women of their time have, and men have not been the only providers of their homes either. It's NOT natural.

    For men, yes, it's natural.

Now, a gentleman will teach himself to look at the lady as a person, not merely as a nice set of legs and boobs. But even when she becomes a person, she's still got a nice set of legs and boobs.

You forgot to tell us why a gentleman would do such a thing? Who says it has to be a nice set of legs and boobs? Not all women have nice boobs or legs by your definition, but everybody loves somebody. A man can be happy with any woman as long s he does not love her.

I think, like everything else, it depends on the individual rather than the majority.

I'd like to think men refrain from just seeing T&A; or whatever they want in women and not judge by such things. I'd like to have more faith in men, because I have seen and am also personally acquainted with living proof that there are still cordial men in existence despite the current stereotypes that men are pigs or whatever.

In short, I call bull on this study. Nature or not, we're in control of our interests and what we want to see.

I was talking with a young lady at the gym the other day, and I remarked that there are some that believe that 75% of men go to the gym just because of the girls. I told her it wasn't true that I had asked around and it was more like 99.999%. Ha ha ha I was able to say that because she had a since of humor and also that she new it to be true.

Really interesting topic, as is seems to go against values of equality. Be interesting if archeologists found evidence of a matriarchal society where men were objectified. :)

Yes. Men are visual creatures, and we appreciate a beautiful female body. It's called nature. That's the way God made it. If we didn't find the physical forms of females alluring, we would have no need to procreate with them. It's natural.

Yes, even the ones that have romantic notions. My woman friends tell me people look
at them all day long. It's the nature of the animal. I say why screw with mother nature. With peacocks it's just the opposite. It takes a lot of work for a woman to look good, and I for one am very appreciative.
