The Frisky brings news of James Tate, a Connecticut high school student who attempted to woo his date to prom with a grand romantic gesture -- taping enormous cardboard letters to the side of a school, spelling out his request.

Problem is, the message got him banned from prom.
In case you're wondering, The Frisky informs us that "HMU" stands for "Hit Me Up." Probably not the most romantic way to end this cute request, but we'll still give him props for being creative.

Rodrigues was touched and said yes, but then Tate and his accomplices were called into the headmaster's office and given suspensions and banned from the prom for trespassing on school grounds at night. The school was also concerned that it had been a safety risk, though Tate insists that he and his friends were safe and everything while climbing the ladder to tape up the letters.

thats sweet...
taping the letters (shows a respect for property) - absolutely too harsh.
trespassing on school grounds - case by case assessment needed (from a real adults - not the juvenile hardnoses that run this school).
How do you teach school kids to know when to give people another chance if you don't set the example . Could this be why some kids cause violence in schools when they are treated like criminals ?
I often sit and wonder about how some of these morons that are "educational officials" got to be officials...just how many people were coherced into making these "educational officals" officials.
Many feel "RULES ARE RULES" and that is a bunch of crap and they know it.
NONE have ever been in love, NONE have ever taken risks, NONE have never had to explain to dad or mom why they were out all night and why their zippers are still open or why is it your hair is all mussed up....
They are such saintly people that we all cannot help but wonder how they have not been cannonized into sainthood.
