Hmmm - well, it will certainly be interesting to see what else the technological world will come up with in the coming years!

Lol, they've either all run out of ideas, or they're waiting for the economic downturn to end, I don't suppose computers are particularly profitable at the Moment, people are sticking with their older ones and just updating the hardware... Tablets and phones are still big though, that's where any innovation will come, but for now we're mostly stuck with our 2011 gear...

Isn't there a plan to release an iphone 5 - or is it already out? I think you're right though - most of the renovations will happen in the phone and tablet world

There probably is a plan. They'll update the processor, put a better battery in, put better cameras in, and make it a bit slimmer. That's all they can do for the time being, there haven't been any real advancements in the past year, so they'll probably wait for a new device to come out then incorporate that into it.

It's still a while off though - Computer companies have hit their plateau, we need the next Mark Zuckerburgs and Bill Gates to graduate from University so they can bring some fresh thinking into the industry, it's stagnated now, they can't do any more within the restraints of the microchip.

It'll come though, even if we have to wait a while. Thank god we have the internet now to keep us "intertained"! lol

It's definitely good at corrupting people... I remember when we got the Internet at home, I was about 6, and I had no idea how to use it or what it was. Now, my little sister is the same age and she's whizzing round, who knows what she might look at...

True - but it's also really great in allowing us unprecedented communication. The amount of information in circulation is astounding, not to mention the connections offered through the global reach of the internet. While there's bad stuff to be found, I would have to say it's pretty much the coolest thing our generation implemented - and we've certainly left quite a mark on the world.

Probably just behind the Industrial Revolution... But with great power comes great responsibility <-- Tacky but true. And people just aren't responsible, which is why pornography takes up most of the Internet, Zuckerberg is able to steal all our personal data and Trojans and Worms steal our bank account details...

Lol - that's the beauty of personal choice. We all attract to us and seek out most what we need to learn. ....apparently that means quite a lot of internet-goers need to satisfy their animalistic urges and learn to uncover their more carnal tendencies.
Not that sex is bad (b/c oh goodness gracious it isn't) but virtual sex is a little weird ....just my opinion! (lol - quite the turn this conversation has taken!)

To the 17 people who voted for Bill Gates : Gates never invented anything on his own. Not a single thing. Everything he build Microsoft on was someone elses technology - either stolen or bought for a basement price. Gates' strength was his ability to sell literally anything. Jobs' strength was his imagination.

Niether did Steve Jobs invent anything, like Bill Gates he improved on what was out there.

    1. Did he invent the first computer? No. That would be the ENIAC, by the US Army.

    2. Did he invent the first personal computer? No. That would be the Commondore PET, by Commondore International.

    3. Did he invent the first MP3 Player? No. That would be the MPMan F10, by Saehan Information Systems.

Both improved on previous inventions and knew how to market them. Both were geniuses.

It would be better - Microsoft bought up all the innovating companies and stole all their ideas to put into his computers, which were frankly not as good as the competitors'.

Your right it wouldn't be. I do not know if it would be better or worse. It may all be open source (which may or may not be a good thing). Still can't argue he is the biggest player.

Apple IPhone hit the market in June of 2007 and the media ate it up. Touted as the next best thing in cellular, a Smart Phone.

But do you know how many Smarter Phone came out before the Iphone

    Audiovox Thera - March 2002

    TMobile MDA - June 2002

    O2 XDA - June 2002

    - No Picture found -
    Siemens/AT&T; Wireless SX56 PocketPC Phone Edition - October 2002

    Anextek SP230 - January 2003

Hitachi Pocket PC phone - January 2003

Texas Instruments WANDA reference design - March 2003

Over 74 other Smarter Phone came out before the IPhone and that is only looking at Windows based phone.

Symbian phones still have features that the IPhone is still dreaming of and before the Apple launch they had release over 200 versions

    Right, except that he didn't

"Historians consider the first touch screen to be a capacitive touch screen invented by E.A. Johnson at the Royal Radar Establishment, Malvern, UK, around 1965 - 1967."
    http://inventors.about.com/od...

You can't be the inventor of a big touch screen computer and not be the inventor of the touch screen. All he did was take inventions of others and try to make it more compact... which is swell... then Steve Jobs went further with it and made it successful. We have to give all the inventors credit for the tablet, it's not one person who invented it. That's like saying you invented color light bulbs color light bulb
all by yourself and conveniently leaving out the work of Thomas Edison.

Steve Jobs is nothing but the modern day Edison, and that's no praise for either of them.
His post was not about touch screens, it was about a personal computer with a touch screen interface, which was revolutionary, but because Bill Gates doesn't know how to market his products, no one really noticed.
Steve Jobs made an identical product, but marketed it properly, and relied on the ignorant masses to go beyond his marketing.
  • Chris America... 2012/07/04 02:07:06

A tablet computer has a touch screen interface... yet this isn't about touch screens... if it's not about computers either than you have neither.

    Cool story bro.
Also the guy you commented on never once said "touchscreen computer" he said tablet.
Much more than just a touchscreen.
And you own article basically says the same thing as his picture.
