Ever had a craving for a cupcake at, say, 3 o'clock in the morning? Sprinkles Cupcakes wants to take care of that for you. The L.A.-based bakery is launching a 24-hour cupcake ATM, or the "world's first cupcake automat," laist reports. And it just so happens to be pink.
"This automatic cupcake machine dispenses freshly baked cupcakes, cupcake mixes, apparel and even cupcakes for Fido! In the heart of Beverly Hills nestled between Sprinkles Cupcakes and the brand new Sprinkles Ice Cream, 24 Hour Sprinkles will be continuously restocked day and night with a variety of freshly baked cupcake flavors," the company told laist.com.
If you live in the New York area, you're also in luck. Sprinkles Cupcakes told The New York Daily News that the cupcake ATMs are coming to Manhattan by the summer. "They’ll be restocked constantly throughout the day, so if it’s Wednesday, you’ll only get our Wednesday flavors," spokeswoman Nicole Schwartz said.
And the concept was indeed born out of a late-night craving. Company founder Candace Nelson, a judge on Food Network’s "Cupcake Wars," wanted a sweet treat after hours when she was pregnant, but she had nowhere to go. "I thought there has to be a way, and so the concept of 24-hour Sprinkles was born," Nelson told the News.
