I have many very effective ideas, which I have used for the past few years quite effectively. Time outs scare the children I raised much more than a spanking. So did losing their toys or not getting to go to a friends house.
Don't put words in my mouth. Making things up just makes yourself look like a moron. Same as the 3 separate replies. Bravo. And no, tone of voice is in no way verbal abuse, as it does not even fit the definition. However hitting DOES fit with physical assault.
*helping* to raise a child is not the same as raising one. It does not even compare.
i helped raise a little girl and i only spanked her a couple of times and after i did that i held her and explained why i did it and she turned out perfectly fine
It's discipline! There is nothing wrong with it. And sometimes if necessary the child needs a spanking on their bare bottom. That is also discipline. Child abuse is a different subject.
Teachers and parents don't have the right to spanking their kids. Or they shouldn't, at least. It's horrible and kinda gross. I mean seriously, touching your kids butt is never cool :/
It's not discipline. It's not exactly horrible, but honestly it's not effective. I wouldn't care at all if my parents spanked me, but when they actually took away my ipod or something like that I would start to behave better. I know some kids that got spanked and they're worse behaved than anyone else. Honestly, if people want to hurt their kids to punish them that's just stupid and ineffective anyways.
