Sometimes the hard times in life are gifts in disguise. Has this happened to you?

Your experiences, good or bad, are a road map for your life. Oftentimes, when faced with barriers or challenges, while at first you may have hoped the road would have been smooth sailing - you find that you are a better person having overcome the challenges. Maybe, when faced with tragedy or heart-break, you found that when you got to the other side, you were actually in a better place.

Sometimes, our worst, darkest times, are truely gifts in disguise. Maybe you find a person sticking by you, who becomes your dearest friend - or maybe a future spouse. Maybe you lost a job - and found another far better. Maybe some experience led you down a spiritual path - be it Christianity, Scientology, Judaism...or led you away from religion and into Atheism, or some other path that you feel has benefited your life. One door closes and another door opens - and sometimes, you are amazed at what you find on the other side.

Whatever the situation -- can you pinpoint a moment in your life when you were faced with a roadblock and that roadblock altered your life for the better?

You!

Sometimes for the better, and sometimes not. That's life. What you learn from those roadblocks, good and bad, is what's important.

Yes, the loss of a child led to my second and much happier marriage. It's not so much what life throws at us that matters as what we do with the experiences...and more specifically how much we learn from them.

That is so true. And I'm very sorry to hear about your child. I'm glad you found happiness in your 2nd marriage.

After recovering from a bad relationship, I was able to take a step back and re-evaluate what I wanted in a woman and actually in life. I was able to learn from my past mistakes - and looked at those qualities I wanted in a mate. But it also gave me the opportunity to be alone - which is something I needed although had I been in that relationship - I wouldn't have been able to see that. I feel I became a better person for the experience. I later met the woman whom I am spending the rest of my life with - and she IS a gift that I will always treasure.
