Listening is probably the most useful thing but time is necessary, too.
I don't think that "not judging" is possible. Our brains are built to judge and we do it all the time. Some things we judge between, or among, are pragmatic and some are value-driven and that ability is part of what makes us human. I think the important part and, perhaps at the bottom of this choice, is to ask, "Do we give our friends a good thing when we try to impose our judgements on them?"
Or, does being a friend mean we accept them as they are and help them when they ask us?
and answering those little questions that come up from time to time ....like what does the incense smell like that the catholics use in their masses . i am serious , i dont know .
