Someone, please explain to me, how is it that homosexuals ruin the sanctity of marriage.

"Gays ruin the sanctity of marriage"
If that is so, how is it, that my wonderful girlfriend and I have been together for 3 and a half years, living more than a thousand miles away from each other, can love each other so much even though the majority of our time talking is texting, messaging, and skyping. Only spent less than 2 weeks together in person, and are moving in together, planning our life, and waiting 5 years to get married. We grow so much with each other, loving each other more and more every single day.
But when it comes to straight people, you can cheat, beat your spouse, and only be married for 55 hours, then divorce them, and that's okay? If I was logical human being.. Oh right, I am, I'd say that's nuts.
So if someone could explain to me in a logical, non-religious explanation, I'd love to listen and take your thoughts into consideration.
If you give me 'oh, the bible said so, Jesus said it' bullshit, you're a moron.

Wonderful, now tell me where it says that in the Constitution.
We have Freedom Of Religion, which means anyone can practice any religion they want. Or lack thereof. Please do not use your freedom to stifle someone else's.
But, I think the biggest fear for most religious people (Catholics and Evangelicals in particular) is that if you allow gay people to get married, they will have to allow gay people to be married in their churches. What they don't seem to understand, is that if the couple is not a part of that church they are not allowed to get married there. I am not Catholic, and they do not have to allow me to get married in their churches...and the same thing is true for a gay couple.
Besides, why would you want to get married in a place that doesn't like you? Imagine that hostility during the ceremony? Talk about starting your marriage off on a bad foot.
Some years back, interracial marriages were the target of choice.
Now I was born in 1968 so I remember all too well being one of the first kids with divorced parent in my neighborhood. But by the time I was in High School, it was a normal part of life.
I also remember the hellfire and brimstone response to test tube babies.. and look at how common that is now.
So why don't you just brace yourself and realize that this is just another thing you folks couldn't accept but had to in time. The world will not end and everyone will adapt and it will all be okay.
Did gay marriage ruin the sanctity of Trump, Gingrich, Rush and Edwards marriages?? NO THEY did!
We have two wonderful friends that were just handfasted at a Pagan ceremony of marriage... they are also just as married as we are even if they haven't been together as long.. they also get all the legal protections despite being married in another religion.
So how is it that everyone says churches and the Bible say homosexual marriage is wrong? Clearly not ALL religions or churches have an issue with it and even if they did.. there's always the courthouse for a marriage.
This issue should not be an issue at all. It is one religious group trying to force their own religious belief down everyone else's throat and it shouldn't hold any water with any thinking person at all.
Good luck with your girlfriend and as and ordained minister, ULC, if you need someone to officiate I work for a six pack of good beer.
We don't ruin marriage.
People who aren't sincere ruin marriage.
I agree with your profile BTW.
