SodaHead Agnostics
A group for open-minded people. This group is open to everyone who is willing to discuss their beliefs and opinions respectfully, so that we may all learn from each other and better understand why some people believe the way the do.

Welcome to the group.
I have only one firm belief and that is that everything happens for a reason, even if we don't know what the reason is. Sometimes it will be necessary for us to know, sometimes it won't, but not knowing the reason doesn't negate the possibility that there is one. Beyond that I have only fluidic ideas, constantly changing with each new experience I have and each new lesson I learn.
I see patterns everywhere I look, in events, in human behaviour and the way that people interact with each other, even in the most bizarre places. If you pay attention long enough you begin to recognise certain things that stand out and become significant, but I still have no idea what these things truly are or what they mean exactly, I just know that they are there. I see the billions of tiny pieces that all fit together perfectly in order for us to be here and are absolutely vital for our very existence. They all just happen to be right here on our doorstep. Is that extraordinary luck or intelligent design? Either way, it's incredible.
I can understand why so many people choose to believe in a God and/or intelligent design, even if I don't agree with them, but the simple truth is that nobody really knows how we came to be. We each favour the idea that makes the most sense to us, that brings us comfort, meaning, hope and something to believe in, but all we really know for certain is that we are here now. Anything people think they know about our origin requires faith and a powerful imagination, whether it's the Creation story, the Big Bang theory or something else entirely, you still have to make those leaps of faith.
I don't see why it is necessary for us to make leaps of faith that could eventually be proven a complete waste of our efforts. I am grateful for my existence. I don't have to aim that gratitude at a deity or belief system in order for me to 'feel' it. No need for prayers. No need for worship. Just gratitude for being alive. I am simply grateful in general. The advantage of being grateful in general is that you can feel good about existing and enjoy your life without feeling a sense of obligation or duty to follow a doctrine or belief system that is no longer apt for today's society and actually causes more division and hostility than we really want or need.
I'd like to see more posts by the different religions we have in this group, it's great way for us to share and learn about each other and hopefully we'll all find more thinks in common than actually divide us.
Please enjoy the group. :o)

I have only recently decided I am Agnostic. I used to be Christian, but with all the bad things going on in the world, I just lost my faith in it. I am NOT Atheist, believe in something, but just don't know what anymore! - GD 2013/05/28 16:02:38
Great introduction. I completely share the sentiment. - Mike 2013/05/02 01:58:50
Thanks for the invite. Perhaps, this group has the answers. - MiMi 2013/04/29 19:26:26

I had mixed emotions about joining this group but did so to make this point. I am an agnostic. Being an agnostic is not a choice. Either you believe in a supreme being or you don't. I did not choose not to believe, I just ...130 opinions2011/07/06 23:07:02
“There is more going on than we are fully aware of…” Where is the evidence for this? Are you saying there IS a higher power? This doesn’t sound like agnosticism to me. It sounds like religion. [EDIT: of course there is m...59 opinions2011/03/11 18:53:18

It seems like a lot of people on this site talk about how they once believed in God but that, after experiencing various things, decided that God couldn't allow such things to happen. Is it reasonable to conclude that beca...187 opinions2011/02/18 00:23:11
