A Slim Jim plant explosion has left the ConAgra Food Inc. factory without a roof. 32 Slim Jim workers have suffered injury -- some being treated for burns on 40 to 50 percent of their bodies. Three other ConAgra employees remain missing, investigators believing that they are trapped beneath the meaty rubble of the torn Slim Jim roof.

The Slim Jim factory is in Garner, North Carolina and is formally known as the ConAgra Food Inc. plant.

ConAgra utilizes hazardous chemicals when producing Slim Jim products. The U.S. Chemical Safety Board believes the Slim Jim factory explosion was a chemical explosion.

Should factories that produce food be forced to limit the amount of explosive chemicals used alongside their products?

Most material must meet safety standards and procedures. Just because an accident happened is no reason to get excited. If it recurs, then a closer look would be warrented.
