In ELEMENTARY and MIDDLE SCHOOLS, I went to the SAME SEX SCHOOLS.
NOW, in my RECOLLECTION, IT WORKED BEST for ME.
Single-sex schools - Yay or Nay?

Some believe that single-sex schools are more conducive to learning than a
co-educational school. Studies conducted have shown that boys gain more
academically from studying in co-education schools, but that girls find
segregated schools more conducive to achievement. Proponents of
single-sex schools maintain that, by removing the distractions of the
other sex, students learn more effectively and feel better about their
education.
Opponents maintain that co-educational schools better prepare
students for the real world, and do not attempt to segregate students
from the realities of adult life.
DO YOU SUPPORT THE IDEA OF SINGLE-SEX SCHOOLS?
NOTE: There are so many polls on SH that divide people, and I'm trying
to change the tide - creating polls that brings people together to
comment on a topic that is not dependent upon your religious, political
or sexual orientation. So regardless of whether you are involved in
Christianity, Atheism, Scientology, whether you are a democrat,
republican, libertarian, homosexual, bi-sexual, tri-sexual (lol), etc.,
you may find that you have more in common than you otherwise thought
possible.

However a couple of the girls I know going to the all girls' school are thriving there. It really depends on the person. My recommendation to parents is to find what actually works best for your individual child, not just what you assume works best. Try out some things. Maybe send your kid to a single sex summer camp for a week. If they come back happy and fine give a single sex school a try, if they come back looking for blood, co-ed might be the better option.
As a victim of a single sex military accademy in the 2nd and 3rd grade I can tell ya, FIRST HAND they are NOT more conductive to anything let alone learning.
In my experience I think that co-ed is better as it reflects the real world a lot more. I've also observed that there were more fights and general bit**yness in my same-sex school, and nearly everyone I've known that has gone to both a same-sex and a co-ed school say the same thing. Nearly.
NOW, in my RECOLLECTION, IT WORKED BEST for ME.
& FRIENDS, GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!
