Prepare to see a disturbing video of young people at their worst. This clip of middle schoolers allegedly abusing a bus monitor is so disgusting, so bothersome that it will leave many wondering what has gone awry in our society. Of course, it is merely one of the many tragic, anecdotal instances of human cruelty that we so often see today. The unbelievable clip is painful to watch, as it shows alleged students from Greece Athena Middle School in Rochester, New York (my hometown) take their abuse to horrific levels.

The woman purportedly shown in the video, Karen Huff Klein, is victimized incessantly, as students spew insults and obscenities at her. Throughout the clip, the children can be heard in the background calling her “fat,” threatening her and making fun of her hairstyle, among other sentiments. Astonishingly, the abuse continues for more than 10 minutes.

I know this happened a few months ago but It's sad to see Greece Central School District hasn't changed any in the bullying aspect (I went there for just two years at both Hoover Drive Middle School & Greece Olympia High School and bullying was rampant in the days I went there, especially at Hoover Drive.)

On the other hand it was nice to see everyone rally around her to help.

I think what bothers me most is that these are not kids from some ghetto. They don't appear abused, they have decent clothes, they appear to be normal American kids. I doubt if these kids by themselves, would have done any of this? To impress their friends, to out do them, they went over and above. Had this happened in Japan........ those kids would be in prison.........put there by their shamed Parents?

It's disturbing but most likely a joke taken too far. I say we give these kids bus suspension for a month.

As a teacher I see this behavior everyday. It has NOTHING to do with politics, Liberal or Conservative. It has to do with PARENTING--or a lack thereof.

Half the replies on here are talking about "the left has caused all of this" and that's just BS. I'm a conservative teacher and you know what? I'm tired of people--especially from the right--dissing public education and teachers in general. There is NO liberal agenda in the public schools: that's just a partisan BS point because we don't teach creationism and all that other BS religious crap that the extreme far-right wants us to teach.

I'm sick of partisan politics and politics in general.

I'm a conservative, AND a teacher, and your comment--we hear a lot of that "lib progs" crap--is absolutely BS.

The little saying, "If you aren't on the RIGHT, you're WRONG!" is dumb and inaccurate, and misleading as well. If you want a RELIGIOUS education, then go to a religious school (and stagnate and get the wrong ideas on education). If you want the best of education, you have to be willing to find out the truth of education.
