Everybody is unique. You don't know what sort of background a person had when they were growing up, or what made them believe what they do. It's wrong to disrespect people's beliefs when something could have happened to them to make them believe that. Even if it hasn't, there's no need to be disrespectful. Everybody has their own thing and they can helping liking what they do. Just be polite, it's not that difficult.

It's what makes everything unique. It has to start and continue from somewhere. Sometimes it's from things we don't like.

Of course. It's an opinion, not a fact, meaning people won't think the same. I respect it when people have their own opinions, think for themselves, and speak for themselves. I would want others to respect my opinion too, even if they don't agree because they don't have to.

There always going to be things people will not agree to but you have respect their point of view and I dislike it when people revert to childish behaviors and insults, because in my opinion that's unnecessary.

Generally speaking and if they express their opinions rationally, not just trying to shout down anyone who disagrees with them.

People who express their opinions with no supporting information, profanities. and name calling diserve to be ignored.

Despite disagreement, there is a respectful manner in which we could and should all communicate with another. We can disagree and agree to disagree. Once disrespect is submitted into the equation, a healthy debate becomes a bar brawl. Its good to have differing opinions, but if your opinion is very strong and you feel you will be disrespectful to someone else based on their opposition, then its best not to have or continue with that conversation. A friendship of mine was broken because that "friend" didn't know how not to be offensive with her opinion, and I wasn't going to feed into a fight, so I ended the conversation and friendship right then and there. She wouldn't agree to disagree and almost always had to negatively comment on the subject despite the conversation being on a totally and completely different subject. It got infuriating and wouldn't put up with it.

I do understand how you feel. But I've found if I just end the conversation then or mention how it makes me uncomfortable and excuse myself, the conversation will either cease or the person just won't have any further words to exchange with me at all.

    That depends.
If the other person just has a different opinion than you and that's that, respect that person's opinion. If the other person has a differing opinion and proceeds to ATTACK you with it, you don't necessarily have to respect that.
But that depends on the opinions themselves. For example, if someone hates your favorite band and isn't afraid to let you know, be respectful anyway. It would be terribly childish to get in an argument over something like that, not to mention pointless. But if someone is being bigoted, calling you names, or being abusive in any way, I would advise against respecting that, no matter the circumstances.

Of course. Just because someone doesn't have the same opinion as you does not mean they don't have a valid opinion.
Unless, of course, they disrespect your opinion. Or their opinion is offensive or discriminatory.

. . . .Just to show others that you are showing them respect; should you pretend to agree with them, although, you really think that the expression of their personal opinion sucks?

I do respect people's opinions whether I agree or not because if I don't show them respect, it is unlikely they will respect me so there is a quote says "Show them respect first and they will respect you" and I believe that.

It depends on how relevant their opinion is and how respectful they are of others. A lot of time the comment is disingenuous and intentionally misleading, like the standard liberal talking points, for example. Pay your fair share, it ain't fair and so on.
