Sorry, the first time I broached this subject, I royally screwed up. And I apologize.
So, I'm trying again.

Gracie ~Gun Totin' Gracie~ 2012/08/17 20:51:52NO, I would not be ashamed to be on welfare.+7Because for me,,,,,that would be the last thing that I would ever do. I have no problem with helping out someone in need,,,,for awhile,,but not for a lifetime.

There should be a better way to monitor it and thus cut costs.
Thanks for the answer.
I would be thankful if someone helps out ...
Its a shame for the system letting so many people fall so deep.
I think our age is showing. :-)
Welfare is for people who need and use it either supplement a low income or to help them when they lost a job or cannot work for awhile.
Nothing shameful in asking for help
Now abusing that is different
For the most part it is later that i see how hard it was for my parents being alone in this country and i appreciate what they had to go through and happy that something was there to help them
I graduated college and am making a decent living now for my family; and we are paying our taxes like responsible citizens. I think it's people who abuse the system and never try to better themselves that should be ashamed of welfare.
Great answer.
"America, the land of the free"! LOL
Thanks for the well-thought answer.
When I was younger, my mother had to go on welfare. She received no child support from my father and never asked for it. She was working two jobs (one day job and one evening job) and still had a problem making ends meet. Eventually she found a third job on the weekends that allowed her to get off welfare. Yes, I was a latchkey kid, but I knew my mother loved me and worked hard. So I worked hard at being a good kid. In the end, we both grew from the experience and I love my mother dearly.
