A local man is fighting town hall so that his 7-year-old daughter can keep her pet, a 20 pound rabbit.

The town’s zoning rules classify Sandy the rabbit as livestock.

I hate to see that the city of North Haven, Conn has stopped this low, why don’t they focus on more important thing like fighting crime and not a little girl's pet.

That is just MEAN! This is one reason I like living where I do. The only thing we aren't allowed to raise is pigs and several of us have had pigs. I had a sow with a litter of 16 piglets once. Of course, we kept them so clean that no one knew we had them for years.

If I was that little girls father I'd get a dozen pot bellied pigs for pets if they made me get rid of the rabbit. Thank goodness I don't have neighbors.

All she has to do is SHOW the rabbit in competitions and then it is a PET and not Livestock.

That would not work, they have the same sort of competitions for livestock. I have never seen one for rabbits however they have all sorts of animal competitions, including rabbits, at the State Fair, which unfortunately is livestock. Those people just need to be educated that there can be other pets than a dog or cat. My cat has some pet mice.

What??? My aunt had a cat that weighed over 40 lbs. Once when I was on a bus and was going to go to her house, a person on the bus told me to be careful, a leopard was loose on the street. It was my aunt's cat. Give me a break. A 20 lb. rabbit is livestock? Are the people in this city nuts?
