I worked in a nightclub when the law was lowered. That didn't last too long. The legal age was bumped back up to 21. When you working for a living & usually from 8PM to 4AM drunk teenagers are a disaster. They don't have much money or much class. The bartenders & waitresses aren't baby sitters.

The drinking age should be eliminated. I resented it and everything that went along with being a minor, being forced to do and not do things and being marginalized in society. Ending the drinking age would boost the economy and empower youth by giving them the respect they deserve. Youth would wind up treating people better if they were given respect and rights the rest of society enjoys. No one likes to feel left out, especially if one did nothing wrong to be abridged of rights.

I live in British Columbia where the legal drinking age is 19, and I have heard quite a lot (mostly from high school guest speakers) that many 19-year-olds are not very responsible about their alcohol consumption. A couple of guest speakers even discussed 19-year-olds driving drunk and getting into accidents. Not that older adults do the same, but, hopefully, if the drinking age were raised to a higher age from 19, this wouldn't happen so much.

No, I know very few people that age who would b mature enough to drink.......which sucks for more mature young adults like myself who understand how to act when drinking. But then again theres alot of adults who just should not b allowed to drink either....

I hate to say from experience that American kids are immature but they are just that. I didn't have the maturity when I was 18.

Oh GOD no! Teens are pretty stupid while sober, it wouldn't help to let them run wild while in a drunken state of mind.

Whats the point of having it at 21 cause no matter what teens will have there way of getting it with no problem so no point in having an age to get it

If you can legally murder innocent people during war, why not do it while drunk? Seems that already happened. First pot should be legal, then consider lowering the drinking age.

In Australia our legal drinking age is 18, and we don't have anywhere near as much illegal underage drinking going on. Also, a high drinking age puts off tourists.

Yes, but with limitation: Only 18 for active military. You can join the military at 18, if you are willing to go fight and risk death or dismemberment for your country then you should be able to legally get a damned drink. Civilians, no.

If 18 is the legal age to send people off to war and possible die, they should be able to have a drink beforehand.

if you believe in the country and its laws that your standing by as a member of the u.s. military you ought to follow those laws.

they choose to go over there but the law states in the use you have to be 21 to drink. If they don't like that they should wait til their 21 to enlist.
  • tobe 1wicked... 2012/06/21 17:03:28

They should follow the same law as every other 18 year old. Its not like it matters. Unless kids have suddenly started acting like perfect little angels since i was 18 then many 18 year olds drink more than most adults i know anyway.
  • tobe 1wicked... 2012/06/21 17:04:22

if they wanta break the law then I'm not stopping them nor do i care unless they're doing it on the road but i don't think the laws should be partial.
  • 1wicked... tobe 2012/06/21 17:17:52
    1wickedwitch
Thats why they should not be able to enlist until their 21
  • tobe 1wicked... 2012/06/21 17:40:30

that would impair people who choose to follow the law from being able to join the service.
