Every part of me is screaming that the Burqu should be banned but, under our Constitution, I believe that it has to be allowed as freedom of religion.
I'm concerned about a couple of things. I have no objection to a head scarf but the full burqua could hide a bomb or some other weapon.
For security purposes, a woman could not be realistically identified while wearing a burqua.
I also think it could be dangerous on a train, bus or escalator, elevator etc. Too many things to get it caught in.
I also have to believe that no woman, even a Muslim woman, wants to be swaddled in layers and layers of cloth everyday, all day.
Does anyone know if the burqua is really a requirement of Islam? I know many countries do not require the burqua but the women do wear a head scarf. Isn't the burqua an extreme requirement?
Unless you're also willing to ban the turban, the rosary, and the yamaka. Not all Muslim woman wear the burka because they're forced to. It seems hard to believe from our perspective, but some chose it out of choice.
No because its something which is a part of Islam and is considered normal. There's nothing wrong with decency/modesty and if that comes under the perspective of being covered then so be it. If the world where different and people where less ignorant they'd take the time and educate themselves about the true meanings behind such things but of course they don't. They only see it from their perspective and not from the other side. I live in the Middle East and know for a fact that most Arab women enjoy wearing it. Its a symbol of their identity and their religion which again isn't wrong. Also logical being fully covered out here is pretty wise, the sun is hot and the weather just as bad.
In theory it already is, it is illegal to walk the streets unrecognizable. I can't wear a balaclava for that reason. Making an exception for Islamic people is unfair, they have to abide by the law just as well as we do.
Freedom of religion whether you like it or not we have that and that's part of theirs banning banning that would be like banning any other religious clothing.
You sure don't see the MEN in Islam being forced to be "modest". Their entire religion controls women and what they do, what they wear, what they say, what profession they can go into. It's disgusting. They're treated like third class citizens. What's good for one is good for all. If a person chooses to do this because they want to then so be it. But that doesn't mean that everybody ELSE should be forced to do it.
Many do and that's wrong, but equally wrong is to force one who believes in it (and I do know some who do it voluntarily because they believe god demands modesty) It would be similar to making a western woman go topless
Freedom is for all and Ibelieve in a place where bombs could be- banks where robbers could use them to hide could request they not be worn due to safety by bussiness I do not like them but I am no dictator.

Just saying.
If that's what you believe in, that is your right. However forcing anyone to wear anything should be banned
