Oh sure, while we're at it, let's ban listening to music, reading a book/pamphlet, talking with a friend next to you, eating, drinking, etc. etc.
When you're walking, the ONLY thing you're allowed to do is WALK!! SEIG HEIL!!
Seriously though, driving is understandable. MAYBE even biking. But walking?? Yeah screw you if you don't like me texting and walking, I'M DOING IT. Unlike the morons that walk into poles, I can look where I'm going while texting.
Don't punish ME for the ignorance of OTHERS.
Should Texting While Walking Be Banned?

The rumor mill went a bit crazy today, as reports circulated that Fort Lee, N.J., had banned texting while walking. The shock! The horror! But Thomas Ripoli -- chief of the Fort Lee Police Department -- tells msnbc.com that people who are nabbed texting while walking in Fort Lee are issued a $54 ticket ... but only if they also happen to be jaywalking at the same time.

While the town has cracked down on pedestrians since three people were killed and more than 20 were involved in accidents since the beginning this year -- issuing over 117 jaywalking tickets -- no tickets have been issued for texting while walking.
In an earlier report, Ripoli told ABC News: "It's a big distraction. Pedestrians aren’t watching where they are going and they are not aware." He makes a good point -- maybe texting while walking should be banned. At least when you're crossing the street. What do you think?

I said it's because; it's hard paying attention while you are moving and texting.
Ummm..."it happened to me and cost me a doctor's bill from a trip to the emergency room. Dude I was texting while out exercising (walking); I stepped off the curbing and twisted my ankle so bad and to top that, I friggin' fell hurting my knee also. I felt stupid and embarrassed because, my dang phone skidded from my hand during the fall; in the street, and a car wheel rolled over my phone shattering it. Standing still and texting okay" walking and texting a real no-no" don't do it.
Every time it crosses my mind about that incident, I feel stupid to myself all over again.
Hey" don't laugh at me dude; its funny now, but it wasn't when it happened that day. Hell' even the word "Stupid" was laughing at me.
Calling someone
Listening to music
Eating
Drinking
Singing
Dancing
Exercising
Checking time (watch or cell phone; doesn't matter)
All of which actually ARE equally distracting as looking at a screen to text.
My point: Don't make the rest of us abide by an outrageous law just because some idiot can't pay attention while s/he is texting. The whole "one bad apple spoils the whole barrel" logic we're running on is ludicrous.
If you believe any of those things compares to staring at a screen, reading and typing while only using the most minimal peripheral vision (if that)...you are sadly unaware of how things work. Now - that being said, if you will note, I don't think there should be a ban on texting and walking. So, arguing the point even as poorly as you just did...wasn't necessary. Have a great day. No - no...that's not the same as have a "bad" day.
Nope, not surprised in the least.
