Should Students Be Expelled Over 'Date-Rape Drug' Party?

Police suspect that a date-rape drug was used to spike drinks at a Central Washington University party that sickened 12 students, mostly girls -- and now the students involved may be expelled.
"We suspect. ... that these drugs were introduced to these students," local Police Chief Scott Ferguson told ABC News over the weekend. "Probably without their knowledge."
Police are investigating whether the girls at the Roslyn, Wash., party -- 30 miles away from campus -- were given the date-rape drug Rohypnol, more commonly known as "roofies."
"Many of the victims are women and police want to know if they were targeted specifically," Ferguson added.
CWU freshman Chris Unger said that after the students started getting sick, people kept warning others not to drink "out of the red cups."
"They all had red cups, people were saying, 'Don't drink out of the red cups, don't drink out of the red cups.'"
And while it's still not clear if a date-rape drug was passed around, the students involved may be expelled.
"Central University has a student conduct code that students are held to no matter where they are in the world," Linda Schactler, the director of public affairs at the university, told ABC.
"What we are going to do is talk to each student and there might be repercussions," said Schactler. "If they were underage and they were drinking that's against state law and university policy."
Students' punishments could range from mandatory alcohol education class to suspension or expulsion.
If cops can find evidence that students did this on purpose, expulsion will be the least of their problems.

+11If someone intentionally spiked the drinks with date-rape drugs, then they should be expelled, fined, and jailed. Then, they should be put on the sex offenders list, since that's what they are. The victims shouldn't be expelled, though. However, if they were underage and drinking, they should get the appropriate punishment for their actions, as should those who allowed anyone underage to drink.
If the students attended the party, but knew nothing about the drugs, then they shouldn't be punished.
If the law of a society [any society] is too "limp" to determine the specific punishment needed for an "offender", then a vigilante alternative should be implimented, using careful scrutiny to determine the certain person is indeed guilty, and perform the needed surgical removal of the specific "body part" that was used in the rape. I would recommend a .44 magnum pistol at 4 feet from the target!
This procedure would lower "rape crime" in a society, be the rape heterosexual or homosexual.
Intentionally drugging people is criminal behavior.
Expelled? Good Lord!!! They should be charged with felonies and prosecuted.
